| Ok guys , i need some help, just spent a day at the track witha crg 80 shifter. last track day had other drivers mention the kart seemed loose.... So we went from short to medium rear hubs, brought the front width in one small spacer, and put the rear bar in tight and vertical, back width is about 53 and ahalf with the non adjusting standard crg equip...............got to the track and the kart on red vegas with 13 psi is still noticably loose compared to everyone else........we tried other racer suggestions, ie removed the pod bar front bolts, loosened the rear bumper,, went to fifteen psi on all four........still loose.........the front always felt good , but the back would just keep on kicking out especially on the high speed (50-60 mph ) sweepers...............what now....long hubs |

Hello David,
I'm sure many more qualified people will provide some info on this. However, the one important point I'll make is that when you have it where you want it, make a note regarding your "winter" setup. You may want to correlate that to track temperature.
Regarding changes: Axel harder and raise the rear. Without a harder axel, you may never get enough grip.
I love racing in the winter!

I agree, stiffer axle. Try an letter MB axle.

David,
Before changing the axle, I would suggest something more fundamental.... Make sure that you seat is in the factory suggested postion. Could save you some money.

| Seat mounting changes your front and rear % in return affecting how each end of the chassis will grip the track.... To little Front % and kart may push.... To Much Front % may cause the kart to be LOOSE.. |

What part of the turn does it step out, entry,mid-corner or exit.
Before you buy an expensive axle I would borrow some long hubs and try that. If it gets better but still not great then I would opt for a stiffer axle.
You could try moving the seat towards the rear of the kart by a 1/2". If the kart still oversteers I would then try moving the front wheels out by a spacer to generate more weight jacking or increased caster affect.
How is the handling around the rest of the track? |

one thing i found odd about your message. you said "you brought the front wheels in one spacer". i race in NY and once the weather got colder i had the same problem. except that i widened the front track by one spacer and that made the care less loose.
whenever i go in one spacer on my chassis, my kart winds up looser on the rear. the one caveat i'd like to mention is that I'm running an Emmick kart. my friends in CRGs also usually widen front track under the scenario you mentioned. |

If these are the really hard $100 vegas, put them up to about 18 or 19 psi. I had problems with them too, just got to get them hot.

Front sticks and the back loose...
That is how my kart was acting when
I added weight to the front. (to make class bad idea.) Check out your weight split front
to rear. 50/50 is NOT the way to go.
60/40 is better with most karts.
have fun Kevin |

I agree with Alberto, widen the front until you get a push, and then work them back in. Worked great on my Birel.

| just got back from work guys , thanks for all the input..........I can not wait to go try it.........the front width idea got alot of my attention, as i did talk to some other racers who were running wider front ends succesfully, but discounted their input............fits in with one guy who said sometimes when you are pushing it can feel like you are loose.........any way thanks............dave |
