|

| Im currently bulding my first shifter and i have a 2007 birel cr32 and I just finished rebuilding my 98 cr125 motor. I have a steel psr engine mount and I have a med ribtech carbon seat exactly where I want it. This morning I put the motor on the kart for the first time and of course, the motor was hitting the seat so that the motor would not clamp onto the Kart's rails ( just barely). I removed the engine bump stop off the rear cassette so that I could mount the motor flush on the rails but now the motor is sitting an inch forward from the Axel's bearing cassettes. Is that ok to mount like this? Is there a preferable mounting position for the motor (ex. Is the motor supposed to be centered over the rail that is perpendicular to the rest of the frame rails?). Is there a certain distance the motor has to be away from the axel? Thanks! |

Ill start with this, if I don't have the motor stop agaisnt the motor after about 8 laps the chain will be to loose. No matter how much I torque the mount. _________________ Matt Dixon

| Ok so I'll reinstall the bump stop as far back as it will go for the mount mount to rest on. Will that be ok? Or would it be better to move the motor forward and reposition the seat? |

If it handles good to you no problem, unless your chain is to long, hyme joints on shifter rod aren't stressed, shifter lever isn't to close to the wheel... You are limiting range for gear changes but multiple chains can fix that.
Motors the second heaviest thing so it may be better forward but until you test your kart no way to tell _________________ Matt Dixon

I'm willing to bet that "exactly where you want it" is the wrong place for the seat. _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

| AMC racing out of Washington state makes a cool engine stop that mounts between the rails..super easy to adjust the engine placement and about $25...it works and was designed by shifter drivers for shifter drivers. |
