What would be a good assortment of a few sprockets for Road Racing?
I'm guessing you would want to start with the largest fronts 20-22 front and smallest rears 64-68 rear? |

Good guess, a lot depends on the track you're running.
There's an excel spreadsheet here
http://www.southwestkarters.com/?page_id=52
called clutchgears.xls that you can play around with ratios on.
Also check with Benn Herr (he's the man behind southwest karters) since his kid used to run WF at Thunderbird there.
Good luck, _________________ John Matthews

I'm assuming you are talking 219 chain. 53 is the smallest #35 chain sprocket available,64 sounds like the smallest #219 sprocket. It all has to do with the physical size of the sprocket hub. Money can cure all problems in this area but not realistically. A 23 driver (#35 chain)and a 53 axle sprocket will give you a 2.3 gear ratio. Easily enough for most road courses,Daytona excluded. Just for the record I use and recommend #35 chain. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

IF you are running 219 it is best to get a 23 or 24 driver sprocket. Most of the west coast tracks ratio will be 2.7-2.9 to 1 ratio. _________________ OK everyone It's my opinion only, no one elses, and does not reflect any organization or office that I belong to or hold.
