|
|
Hey, i'm new on this forum, i'm from Costa Rica so please be patient with my english.
I've CRG Road Rebel 2009 chassis, and i need to replace the fuel tank because it's cracked. I've already taken the bad one, and 2 days ago i got the new one.
The problem is i cannot find the way to put in on the chassis.
Maybe some video will help me...
Thanks! |

Jose, you mite have to take the bolt out of the steering shaft support, raise the steering shaft then install the gas tank.
Hope this helps. |

The tank slides in from the engine side, not the master cylinder side. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left to raise the right side tie rod out of the way. Then position the tank into the steering column first, then twist it in the rest of the way. It is tight and the tank will rub on the floor tray but thats ok. You should not have to remove or loosen any parts to do this.
Hope this helps.... |

Not a chance you can get the tank in or out of my kart without loosening any parts. It depends on how high or low you have your steering shaft, mine is all the way down. The only way you could get the tank out without taking the bolt out of the steering shaft support is to remove the floor pan.

Well Jimmy, I guess it is chassis dependent then. I have owned 4 CRG chassis and was able to remove and install the fuel tank without removing or loosening anything on all of them. 2 of those chassis even had a 3rd, lower, hole drilled for the steering column. |

Its not chassis dependent, it just depends on how low you like your steering wheel. The pic I posted is kinda small but if you look close, theirs about 1/8'' between the shaft and the tank. If I raised the steering shaft all the way up, their would prob be 2'' between them.

My steering shaft is low, like I stated earlier, and im using the top hole in the chassis. It depends on how you install the steering shaft support. |

Hi! I was unable to install the fuel tank without loosening any parts. I tried to take the bolt out of the steering shaft support but one of the bolts was unscrewed. Finally i've to take the floor tray to install the tank.
Thanks for the help buddies!
P.D. I've bought the fuel tank in comet, i've get a 8.5 liters tank but i think it's a little bit smaller than my original CRG Road Rebel 2009 tank. |
