Does anyone know the status of the planned go-kart track to be build alongside the new F1 Circuit of the Americas?

I think the COTA, as it sits, would be a heck of a kart track -- At least for road racers. Imagine how much it would cost for a club to rent for a weekend!!

I saw a post on Facebook that referenced $50,000 a day.

They're not even going to do track days. So it looks like the facility will prety much sit empty except for F1. Just the way Bernie likes it.

SCCA and NASA are having races there in the coming season. Rumor has it that the SCCA runoffs will be there in 2014. Also this year

does every f1 track have a kart track? i know it was mentioned for cota...waaayyy back when they were talking about building it. but i dont know if that was a rumor?

there is a country club type place that came out on TV that is near austin airport...forgot the name of it but they had the rental karts on that track before? dont know if that track is safe enough for a full blown racing kart track or just for slow old guys that own fast cars they cant handle? lol

charlies old track at the austin airport is as close as i ever came to actually knowing someone who would build a track in our area! there is still the track at MSR houston, but from what i can tell, they are too proud of that facility to rent it out at a rate that would be able to hold a kart race.

The last I heard, COTA is flaking out on a bunch of commitments.
