First time in my "racing kart" was at a motor sports show in a parking lot at Dublin City University. There was a small roundy roundy track setup. Didn't even get on to the pipe, leaking crank seals didn't help.
First actual race track was Mondello Park. Throttle stuck wide open and only got halfway around turn 1. Learned that you should have a throttle return spring on the carb as well as the pedal. That was 1997. Kart was a 1991 Wright chassis and an absolute dog of a TT27 motor. _________________ CES Grattan pre-entry is open. TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart.

HOT Heart of Texas Kart track in Waco Texas. I was about 12 in '72. Talked my parents into puttin the Hornet in the back of the Impala and driving me from Temple to Waco. Only did it a couple of times. I still remember the great fun of sliding around the corner into the main straight.
I got my kart from Richard at Hornet. bugged him until he finally pulled out an old kart and he welded a sidewinder mount on it and we put on a 91B1. Before I raced it I put on duel tillos and drilled them for Alky. It ran pretty good. Still have the motor. I did win one heat.

The first track I drove on was "Wizzer" dirt sprint track, right next to the asphalt sprint track in Carrollton, Tx. "Pappy Neal" built the track.
I'll be VERY surprised if anyone remembers it. I believe it was 1980. _________________ www.thekartshop.net |
