From what I've heard...
If you want to make a million dollars in karting.... start with two million
Karting is a tough business to make a living on. Relatively small margins, fickle customer base, online shopping, etc... all add up to make it extremely tough but rewarding to the ones who "make it". The successful ones focus on customer service and provide trackside service at all of the big events, especially at the local tracks. You must have a kart brand that has exclusivity to your region as well as on track success to help word of mouth advertising.
Did I mention customer service is critical...?!
Seriously though, Pitts Performance in SoCal has recently either shut down permanently or is restructuring. Perhaps that is an option for you to look into... _________________ Ken Schilling

I would suggest two possibilities, Speedz which is located in Columbus,Oh is a indoor kart track with bar, restaurant, play area, banquet area or in Buffalo there is another indoor kart track. Indoors means you can race all year long. |
When i was 12, I really liked that place. Now that i'm 27, and can drink, I would probably love it.
ninja-edit: rough part of town though. _________________ http://www.Chrislivengood.net

Yes, they are closed as well as the indoor track in Buffalo, so if someone would like to finance the project I would be happy to help reopen them. |

| I sounded off Michael Goebel last night. MFG Technology Centre is not for sale; however, I believe he would accept $600 thousand, which would also include full ownership to real estate (land and structure). |

Curious as to your displeasure with Arizona.
My wife and I have run a very successful mail order karting business from Arizona for over 25 years. We have a strong internet prescense and We very rarely sell anything inside the state. We never go to the local tracks. Everything is mail order, out of state.
I have all the work I can do in my shop and that's pretty much all we need to sustain our lives. We love it and would not trade it for anything.
Good luck in your endeavor,

Extreme karting was registered in 2.4.2000 using Joker.com as the registrar. Current raw website estimated value is $230 based on the ~30k hits a year the site recieves and potential web ad revenue. Dreamhost is the hosting company with plans as low as $8.95/mo. The cost to have someone build a site like this is currently in the $2000 range (in Western NY) and this site looks like it was built using a standard template. Checking the code on the site and some of the other sites the designer (WebFeathers Inc.) has built this is a cookie cutter Java/Tables/XML site. WPOPros is not doing a good job, the links insite the site are sluggish and there is a distinctive wait time when trying to navigate. There is no inventory to transfer. Take into account the ease of setting up order and ship (jobber) accounts with supply houses, and the cost to start a new website that would have the same functionality when complete. Not saying it's a bad deal, they recieve 10k more hits than J3 and 10k less than Italian Motors. Just trying to mention some factors to consider when looking at a web only business for purchase.
