Guy I've been googling several pictures of karts and it seems to me that some have the steering wheel more erected that others and some karts seem to have the steering wheel is a shorted steering column.
Is this the case or are these just optical illusions ?
I would like to attach some pictures but I am on a cell phone. Maybe later I will. |

Here are some pictures:
Take a look at this image:
The wheel seems very low profile and very close to the drivers legs.
This is image, also looks very low profile however it seems to me that nose of the car is elevated or of an elevated design?
However this last picture seems like the wheel is both less inclined and taller..
Please provide some insight. |

| Preference. You could shorten a steering column, use a different angled steering hub, etc. All about preference. |

Is there a limit to how low you can lower the steering wheel. I just bought my first kart, and need to lower the wheel, which I realize will cause the front to toe out, and can be adjusted, but is there a limit to what is safe for lowering the column itself? I like it low.

Could you not just reset the toe? If need be you can buy longer (or shorter) tie rods.
If you don't have a front end tool just take a tape measure from the front edge of the rear rim to the back edge of the front rim.
edit- as I reread your post, as long as the Hyme Joints aren't all stressed you can lower to your likeing _________________ Matt Dixon

Why not just cut an inch or so off the top and re-drill it instead of shortening the bottom? _________________ Blaise Haynes
