On the CRF250, do they run a FCR Keinhin? If so what I did when I ran a stock carb on the 450's, was to swap out the needle seat for a smaller one, like a 3.20, and run the Mikuni round straight in no tee's. Worked perfect....

Doesn't the round pump have a return fitting on it? If so why cant't you run a single line to the stock carb like we do with a Dellorto?

Very slick but a procedure I don't want to get into right now.

What about welding a fixture into the axle bore on the engine side to accept the starter shaft? The obvious problem is that your loosing torque to the crankshaft because of the gearing but I wonder if it would work in a high gear?

17 tooth is good for 2 stroke but this is 4 stroke operating at a lower RPM with more torque I think?

Where should I pick up a pulse for the fuel pump?

Brian
Hi Brian I have done the axle start deal . You have to left kart on to 4x4 piece of wood for starting . Things tend to get a bit bizzze while trying to get off the grid. while doing this start. Much safer for your pit crew on start up's with plug in type of deal . Axel start is almost the same but for the 4x4 wood . If your driver stalls your scrambling with chunk of wood and starter . Cover Mod is in the $220 price range .

Don't get hung up on pulses versus the presence of vacuum, what you care about is the pump diaphragm moving. Vacuum/Release cycles will do the job the same as Pressure/Release cycles.

Howie looking at your pics I'm not understanding how you got the clearance between the engine and the seat. The only way I can get the room is to off center the engine on the frame rails and move the axle sprocket in between the cassetes. Is your seat shifted further over than normal?

Most the seat to the left. You don't want to hang the engine that far off to the right.

The seat on mine is in the standard position. You can move yours over by bending the seat mounts a bit. The motor is only slightly wider then the cr and only because of the oil filter.

The CRF is a very easy engine to mount. ToykoMod's and QRC both sell motor mounts. Howie's Kart was my inspiration for building my Kart. Never had some much fun Karting.

I run a Oil Cooler Adapter that bolts in place of the oil filter cover . And is a bit higher the the standard oil filter cover. I All so noticed that there is no safety wire on Oil Fill Cap on the CRF450 Engine . Is that not a requirement for tarmac racing? .

Chris Reinhardt <<< Chris I am glad your company can do these types of Mod's . But it would be nice if in the future, that you not use a photo of my engine and frame in your show in tell's . And claim as examples of your work. My Clutch cover was not Mod'd by your company . But it was done by Flat Track Engine Machine Shop Specialist. This cover type of work was done for me at a big discount. Because he was interested in my project. And no that is not a cut down socket in the photo ether. Paul

I just love people who try to take credit from other people's work..

Happens to me all the time so I know the feeling.. Very Happy
