Yeah...because a 30mm header TaG is going to be SOOOOO much slower than the normal header.

It's going to be a cake walk.

I too have been seeing TAG Masters drivers moving to Yamaha but I don't think that fitness has anything to do with it. It's money pure and simple.

My guess is a 30mm header is still as fast or a bit faster than an "old style" Yamaha pipe...
I too would prefer to run a Yamaha in Masters (not because I'm "afraid of the gym"), but hey if the field is full for this class it'll be fun! I'm just glad they remembered to +30% of karters over 35 & took into consideration our wallets (dad stopped paying for us a long time ago!) just hope they all come out & run!

If its genuinely cheaper then fine, can't argue with that. If you are driving halfway across the country though it sounds onmiously like throwing a lawn chair off a cruise ship.

I'm out. Couldnt sniff 380# in my dreams..... even at 200# I couldnt sniff 380#
Last time I was down on weight was a few seasons back, I was 205# at winter tour. On an OTK kart, Rok TT (lightest combination I've found) I was still at 390. Now add back 9# for engine (rok is 9# lighter than leopard) and I'm lucky to be at 400.....

Sorry, I would love to race something different on the east coast and support this series, but I just cant come close on weight.

As for the restrictor being easier on the body, I find that laughable as well. Utilize a seat that fits and supports the body properly (I use a Tillet T9 and no rib vest) and rib issues shouldnt be a problem.

Brian, you are right! I did not notice the 380# weight on the class. I would think that 400# would be a much more realistic weight for this class. Especially if the intent is to keep it a true masters class for those 35+ in age. Pretty much any 200# driver and their TAG kart weigh 395# easy. Maybe they will rethink the weight on this class. I'm sure they want guy like you running their series!!

Thank you for the compliment, its greatly appreciated. I'd be interested in renting a leopard package for this series if I could even come close on weight......

Not that I'm implying that the weight will be changed, but I can tell you that the series organizers are following this discussion (and all related to the Series) closely. Remember, the Series wants and needs your support. If enough people want something, they will listen.

The series website has not been launched yet. The mock-up is pretty though. Wink

Header change in Masters is silly to say the least.

At 400#'s it will help even the field out a little more.

Might not be to friendly to the smaller Masters. Sorry Mark Peters!!!

I would think about getting a Leopard or renting and trying series out if weight went to 400.

My recommendation for Tag masters is start with the Rotax Weight of 405lbs and adjust the wieight accordingly based on WKA Engine. This way you pull the Tag Master Rotax guys in the local areas.

I would be interested if they got rid of the Can exhaust for the Yamaha.

as a midwest masters racer, I'm not sure the restricted header makes much of a difference in overall rebuilds? And as testing, tuning and racing in other series is obviously inevitable....I think racing the package at the standard set-up only makes perfectly good sense from the racers perspective?
I could agree with the weight suggestions to raise the minimum up to meet with the typical tag masters weights.

The midwest is struggling for a viable series for racers to compete....keeping weights and rules as consistent as possible only helps everyone in my opinion.

Good Luck!

If I recall correctly this is a series that racers should want aspire to and may not be the place for the average club racer that has a TaG. I thought I read the finals were to be organized around a 20 minute or 20 mile type of format that may require the driver to be fit enough to make it to the checkers. So I think fitness and weight are an important component to the series and it should not necessarily be inclusive of all Masters driver just because they own a TaG.

Talking about Masters. I wish series would make an age.

SKUSA is 30+
Rotax is 32+ or weight
WKA is 35+
USPKS is 35+
