I'm buying a kart from a gentleman that lives on the west coast.. I have asked all the usual questions( condiion, wrecks, maint, passport)gotten some pictures..
I have brought numerous mv from the west coast and used companies that check out the mv for me.. To confirm condition so there are no surprises..
Wondering if there is anything similar for the karting industry?
Wondering what else I can do to make this a safe transaction??
Thoughts opinions.. |

If you want to be certain you have to go look otherwise Ask for a video of start up and run. The other concern is shipping. If the seller doesn't crate it correctly and it gets damaged in transit you've got a problem. Stay away from UPS. When anything they handle gets damaged even when it's insured they're default position is that it was not packaged correctly.

Rarely would it make sense to ship a kart across the country.
Keep looking closer to home, you will find a good kart through at the local track, club or dealer. Even if you have to drive a little it beats buying a kart from just pictures.
Shipping is not cheap. |

Don't buy a pig in a poke, especially when its a racing machine and thus has been run HARD. Find a local kart that is set up to race at the track your will be running at, and that you can see run before you buy it. Even if the kart is as represented and actually runs okay, the few hundred bucks you think you're saving with this great deal will not seem like much when you find yourself swapping axles, etc, trying to get the thing to run right at the local track. |

Hector - I have a 2011/2012 OTK Kosmic Shifter Chassis (32mm) in excellent condition...if you are interested...I can send you close up pictures to confirm all OK..then I take it to a local kart shop so we can set up a video call via Skype...you confirm everything via live video...ask your questions to the dealer...etc...then we just ship it. If interested, shoot me an email at aking888@yahoo.com

lol ask for the kart fox. I agree, buy local if you can. I bought a kart long distance. There were a few surprises and a few hundred I had to put into it (rotax) but it turned out good. Some things you can't fix like scraped off frame rails so ask for a pic of the underside of the belly pan area.

I'm thinking this isn't going to happen.. For almost three weeks the seller tells me he hasn't found a pallet or the time to look for one.. He takes 3-4 days to respond to emails.. When I call him he tells me he's working and will call me back.. Then I don't here from him for 2-3 days.. At which time I get an email telling me he's been really busy.
It could be he's a real busy guy.. But I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this deal.. |

Walk Away now, trust your gut, that something is not right...
Listen to what the others are telling you, buy local, even if local is a couple of hours away, well worth it to see what you are going to buy person. _________________ Ohio Valley Karting Association
