The good news is that if you have been working in the music industry and considering taking the plunge into karting, your ears will now be as safe in karting as they were in the music industry!! So nothing should be holding you back now!!

Respectfully, I think that this is something silly to be mad about. Why is cutting volume a bad thing? As someone who has dealt with hearing issues for the last bunch of years, I can tell you that it is an actual concern for day to day life for the kids and while they're still young and developing. I know it isn't a pressing issue, but it is an issue where any little bit can help.

Andy, you are not alone, as I am sure there are alot of racers that have the same problem.. If my ears were not ringing, I would think I went deaf or I was dead. My uncle that raced stock cars for 40+ years can hardly hear. He wore ear plugs in his later racing years.. Bottom line there really is a problem.. P.S. Ashley has some expensive ear plugs. |

Please correct me if I am wrong! It used to be after a part became eligible for WKA competition it must be avilable 60 days prior to the event. How long will the pipe be available before Daytona? Also I was wondering why we don't have a rule book yet? _________________ We spend our money on Racing, Whiskey, and Women ~ The rest we waste! |

Just logged on to the "Tech Update" section of WKA's website. They are still showing the old updates, complete with typos. (Page one right column, top of page. TRhe date is still 2001, not 2011.)
I know that there is a lot of consternation about these changes, but a large numbeer of the present Jr class drivers are moving this year, with a large number moving next year.
This change was well thought out before implementation. Many fo those posting here have no Junior drivers, yet are complaining about things they know nothing about.
Like it or not, it still is WKA's prerogative to establish rules for their series. If you want to run with the best that is where you go, and whose rules you abide by. _________________ Jean Stafford

Thanks Jean
Just FYI I do have a Junior that is running and has been running nationals for 2 yrs now.
I am not against getting rid of the noisy messy can
I am not against slowing the Yamaha juniors down (but don't see that it is needed either)
I am against making 2 changes in 2 years though. One this year and another next for the new pipe. Seems unfair in my opinion.
I also can't understand why it seems nobody asked the actual racers (or parents) what we wanted to see changed. At least I never heard anything and we were at most of the man cup races this year. Maybe I don't run in the right circles.
Then add in there is a new series (with some very notable people running it) not changing anything with the Yamaha Can.
I just hope the WKA and the new series and get together and commonize the rules. If they can't it will lead to splintering of karting in the MidWest and that will be no good for anyone.
Just my opinions yours may be different. |
