If want to all fancy like, take a female rod end on the straight part and attach it to the rod with a jack screw... The rod end can be either left or right depending on which end of the jack screw is in the rod portion
I feel another 9 page radiator selection post coming on....
I know, I know, what's a jack screw?????
Personally I run a cable shifter, adjust once, forget it.....

So the left end of the rod gets the left end of the jack screw and the other end of the jack screw is right so it gets a right and then when the jack screw is tuned left or right the left end or the right end gets the left of the right to turn left or right depending on weather the left of right is on the right or left then is on the left rod end gets a right to be on the left or vise a versa the right ends doesn't get the right to be on the right because the left has the right to be on the right and the left doesn't have a right so it can have the right to have a right to be on the right.

I having a problem with clearance.
It seems that no matter what, the rod will hit the seat...
I have a wilkart rod, it has a right hand and a left hand thread.
Take a look at this, this is, Not sure I am missing another piece to the puzzle, or if the rod needs to be bent in two directions but like I mentioned if I only bend the part that goes to the J arm, the rod will touch the seat.
Does anyone have pictures of theirs installed on the CR125?

| I've done several CRG's with large seats and Hondas. The black rod in the picture that I sent you was off of one. Is the right hand seat support in the stock position? At most, you might have to put a gentle curve in it, but the one in your drawing is too drastic. Have you installed the seat and put the engine in place with the J arm attached? |

I not sure if the bracket on the right hand support is on the stock position, but the engine is in place with the J arm installed the way it was sent from extreme motorsport (the builder).
I did ask him about sliding the motor away from the seat and he pointed out that it was as far as it could go and the spacers on the motor mount verify this.
I looked at your picture again and I do see a bit of a bend of the black rod.
its very subtle compared to my drawing.
Regarding the seat, it is not installed but it is place supported by the pressure of the brackets and a book under the seat which lines it up with the bottom of the chassis tube...
I have been thinking of installing the seat but up until now, i did not see the rod fitting and working.

OK, I've seen it all, a solidworks model of a shift rod? Make sure you do a finite element analysis of the rod!!! Oh, and also a fluid dynamics study as well, you don't want too much aero drag either....
You really shouldn't have to put a second bend in it, if you do, you did something wrong. Most likely the seat is in the wrong place.....
You could model the whole kart and find out what's gone awry.....

| Make one out of a coat hanger or welding rod to simulate positions. Is the lower shift arm pretty close to parallel to the back axle? |

The funny thing is I can do all those things, ,fluid dynamic wouldn't apply to the rod though ... a picture is worth 1000 words.
Like you say maybe I NEED to just install the seat and how things go from there. I would just hate to have re-drill to make the rod fit. |
