I am not sure that 10 would be enough. Testing is the only way!!!! I don't however think that trying to run the new pipe and can together will work. Such as in the past, different engines have never worked together because one is always faster than the other at certain tracks. Its a good idea but it would take alot of testing to even get it close.

Just my thoughts,
Kent

I agree with you on both accounts. For the weight difference I had first typed 15 pounds, then changed it. Trying to lessen the poop storm when we talk about things like this here. Laughing

And yes, one will be faster then the other some how, some way. You'll have guys that are PO'd, guys that think it fair, etc. I was just looking for some way to allow the pipe to run with the clubs that are not making the change right away. Keeping guys from having to have both a can and a pipe depending on where they run through out the year. I suppose an example could be the guys the run club at New Castle and also run Nationals.

Frankie , do we really want to deal with adjusting weight issues that Tag has faced over the years ?

Ray,

The tag issue put a bad taste in everyone's mouth, that's for sure. With this, it would be pretty clear just by looking at the kart at the scales. Not saying there wouldn't be any confusion, but much simpler then the Tag chaos. It's either one or the other.

Years ago it was done with the PKA and also WKA Unlimited.. It got goofy there at times also. But for the most part worked.

In my opinion Kent and his son Matt did an excellent job in providing back to back numbers, thanks to you both.

Senior Pipe... Club level question.

Now knowing that the current motor set ups can run either the new pipe or the current can, in their current configuration without throwing $100 bills at the motor......

The test does not prove that the engine is at it's best with the can setup. I'm sure people will be trying different port timing and head configurations etc. Maybe in the end it's the same setup but I doubt it.

You have to wonder when the sanctioning bodies (especially WKA) are going to wise up and quit screwing around with the engines trying to "slow them down". Engines in the Junior classes have a lot less power than they used to and nobody got seriously hurt then anymore than now. To me it's an oxymora to keep doing this and really not accomplishing any thing but more cost and disruption for the racers. On the other hand, they have turned a blind eye to the chassis and tires which have accounted for the lap time improvements and allowed more "sticky" tires and of course constant chassis changes that have driven the costs off the charts especially for entry level. Sprint karting should be thriving now but I'm afraid headed the way Enduro/Road Racing has gone. Go ahead and change the engine configuration but its not going to change a thing!

"Hey Mike , you wouldn't happen to have tire that could slow'em down a bit ?"

Ray, when referring to SL type tires we have the B44 which can hold its own with any tire in that hardness range. Most areas that have adopted them have found them to be competitive with the softer SL's with a little chassis work. What has happened in the last few years is that some tire manufacturers chose to make softer tires and designate them SL's to get an advantage and the sanctioning bodies looked the other way and approved them. Once again sprint karters paid the price for these decisions.
Getting back to the original theme of my post, it's a shame they let the chassis and tire importers run wild and keep picking on engines like the KT which has been the life blood for well over 30 years.
