Winter storage.

Just how exaclty do you fog a motor for winter storage, CR125? Pour an ounce or so of oil (which one?) in sprak plug hole and give it a spin? Other then draining water and gearbox oil anything else? Besides draining the carb of course. My seals on the water pump went bad after a winter once, anything I can do to "lube" them?

Drain fuel from kart/engine.
Change oil in gearbox.
Remove engine and double bag in garbage bags.
Store in house/apartment.

Don't leave castor oil or pump gas (ethanol) in the motor. I mix a 1/2 pint of 32:1 Homelite oil with a few cap fulls of Marvel Mystery oil mixed in and let my engine idle/smoke on that. Leaves preservative oil on everything that sees gas.

If you want to dump MMO in the plug hole make sure your exhaust port is closed first so the oil will spread out evenly before you prop it over. 1/2 an ounce is plenty.

What Walt said^ Also, pull the water pump cover off, drain off the water and spray some WD40 in there. Water gets trapped in there and will either rust the the plate or could freeze if you store in a cold place. I would pull the drain on the jug also, blow through the head pipes to make sure there's no water in there.

Run 50/50 anti freeze in it. It also lubricates the water pump seals and no chance for any cracks in the cases if all the water was not removed

Eight years of 115* summers was enough for me. You can dress for the cold at least Laughing

Thank You guys, very informative, will do all of the above, and then still store it in a room where it's not cold:) Well all of the above except running it with oil mix, too late for that, motor is off the kart.

John - not to highjack the thread but, 115 ? Not 105 ? 115 ? What do you do in the summer besides pay outragous electric bills to get the temp down below 100?

) on the Marvel Mystery Oil. That stuff is amazing and won't gum up over time. I had a spare engine that had been 'preserved' with MMO then sat in my trailer for a couple years (i.e. outside, not bagged or anything like that). I suddenly needed to use it - pulled the head and barrel to check it out but everything looked perfect. Aside from a bunch of smoke when I started it up, it ran perfectly and I won the race.
