Not sure if anyone is running 2oz with XPS, but I know people did with Motul. Seems people are running 3, 3.5, or 4 ... do some testing with those amounts and see what your motor likes. Obviously more oil is better for lubrication, but may hurt performance. _________________ Chris McGinley

Thanks Chris. Plan to do that as was originally running 5oz+. The deal though I think is that now Rotax Max Rules require between 2 and 4 oz AND pump fuel where I thought as before one could run more oil and use VP fuel. |

USRMC should have learned their lesson at the 2005 GN in Las Vegas. They ran pump fuel there without warning anyone - it was a disaster and they told me they would not do that again! This issue was never really discussed as it was overshadowed by the massive timing and scoring issues that year. |
This is what happens when new importers take over, without experience as a guide, they try the same things past importers/distributors did. And amazingly, with similar results for many competitors. There's nothing we'll ever be able to do to stop it. _________________ Nick Weil

Glad this topic is still on the front page.
Cleaned up my son's junior Rotax after a day at the track. rebuilt the fuel pump cleaned the carb filter changed oil and all that.
Didn't have any left over Rotax gas so i used some of my ICC gas 98 with 30:1 castor. Man!!!!!!! the motor was uper responsive and revved really nice.
I figured since there is no power valve it would be OK. Well it was more than OK And no we don't play on the ROTAX scene just local stuff and play days so I am not worried about the non spec XPS whatevers. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |

With the restrictions on head and cylinder cutting, and the low compression of these engines, you want to run the worst, dirtiest-burning, highest-alcohol pump gas you can find.
Anything that creates big carbon deposits on the head will increase the compression to somewhere near where it should have been in the first place and pick up power.
Other than that, the ethanol (and methanol if you can find pump gas with it) brings some oxygen along for the ride, which helps with power. "Chemical supercharging".
Hi-Lo 87 was the best Rotax fuel I've run. _________________ "If you're still in full control, you're not going fast enough" - Fred Frame |
