|
|
| I have a shifter kart and my brakes work but not very good. It does not feel like there is much stopping power. I was wondering how i can go about adjusting them so i can stop faster. I have the bleeding tool but I'm lacking the exact fitting for the end of the bleed tool. Is there another way to adjust the brakes. I filled the master cylinder up and the brakes work it just engages late and you have to apply a lot of pressure to the pedal and it still does not stop very fast. I can slow down but if i needed to stop in a hurry i don't think it will be able to. This is my first kart and I'm sort of a mechanic but never done a break bleed for a kart before. Any help would be great thanks Mike. The Brakes i have do not have a bleed nipple just alen bolts where it looks like there should be a bleed valve. |

I replied to your same post in the 2 cycle section before I saw this. Please try to avoid double posting.

Mike, it sounds like they need to be blead. You can get the fitting tool at a online kart shop for just a few bucks.
Remember when you put the bleeding tool on the master cylinders, open the valve on the bleeder, then slowly pull the brake leaver. This will push the air from the master cylinder up into the bleeder reservoir. You'll probably have to pull the leaver several times to get the air out. If you open the caliper bleeding screws first, you will push the air into the brake lines.
Once thats done, just open the caliper bleeding screws one at a time. Let the fluid run out till its solid (no air bubbles).
Hope that helps. |

I have a 2021 CRG chassis, the brakes do have bleeder valves but I would like to know if there is any particular sequence in which the calipers need to bleed.
Also, where exactly does the brake fluid go?
Are we free to use any high-performance DOT 4 fluid? Are there any particular fluids that are recommended?
I wonder if I should do a quick flush on the system. I have a Motive European Power Bleeder I wonder if I can use it to make thing easier?
The ones I have look like this:
The question is, if remove the two hex screws on the top, will I let air into the system?
There is also two of these, one for the fronts and one of the rear.[/img] |

That square top part is the resevoir for the brake fluid. Removing the top cover allows you to keep it topped off while bleeding, or allows the air to escape if you are reverse bleeding with a pump from the bleeder screw on the caliper. Similar to a motorcycle or full sized car master cylinder/resevoir. Just make sure you collapse the expanding rubber seal under the cap before you put it back on.

So I guess once I open the top cover, the fluid is just there..? |
