If it's done correctly, I agree 100%, I tig my EGT fittings and do repairs on them with tig all the time, but overheating will make almost any alloy more brittle, especially a thin sheet metal.

Your right, but mild steel is not an alloy. And I guess you could argue that point.

No you can't. This is the very first line from Wikipedia about steel:
