During the past 12-months, I have had 3 (THREE) pipes cracked. Note that I don't drive/race much. One of the pipes cracked with just 3 races on it. The other pipe cracked with just 1 race on it. I have had different pipe mounts, different engine mounts and even different cylinders - cracked...cracked...cracked...why are they so bad?

Alex, Rlv is aware of and is addressing the problem.

RLV is a great company. I bet they will give deep discounts and rebates for existing customers with R4 pipe failures.

I'm using the RLV mount kit front and rear, the hose clamps done up tight, Akropovic exhaust springs, 3x RLV and 2x M4 12" silencer, 5x R4H pipes all perfect over 1-3 year period with 1x Sweedetech 3 ring exhaust flange, 4x Sharkshifter 2 ring exhaust flange, all in road racing use.

Thanks for the picture Jimmy.

Will the original R4H still be made available in future or is it all going to this kind of design?
How is this going to affect the 'spec' class using R4H?
Surely there must be a slight difference in performance either better or worst?

How much do stock honda guys spend on pipes per year?

Looks like ~$325 for a pipe but is it typical to break one (or more) a year?

Sam, it dyno's the same. I've done many back to back sessions with it and cannot tell a difference.
Makes the pipe easier to mount, you can take it apart to clean it out and if you damage it you will be able to purchase the half you need.

Why can't they stamp the whole back half? That rear section could be done with no welds except for the seam down the center making it more robust and durable. Also less prone to fiddlers.
