I'm not the expert here..... I downloaded the demo version and messed around with it. Basically any data you can record on your Mychron, you can sort and display on the screen.

The trick was getting the data sorted so it could read it. I believe it was a text file with a heading for each gauge.

There's not a lot of data you really need to display, you don't want to clutter the screen. RPM, MPH, Brake, Gear, G-Force...

You dont need GPS. Don't know why someone would think that. You don't even "need" speed, but its nice to have Smile with a shifter since its hard to derive it!

I did it with my gold.... let me dig up the video later... I have one from a TaG and one from a shifter.
I was hoping to overlay my heart rate this year but never got around to gathering the data, will have to try again next year. Or better still if we get an ice\snow series going.......

I don't think anybody said you "need" a GPS, we were comparing what you get with a Smarty Cam vs. what it would cost to duplicate it with separate components.

The other plus side of the Smarty Cam setup, is that it's all integrated, so I would have to assume it all syncs up quite easily...

I'm going the same route as most everybody with separate components, but I think when I finally replace my old M3, I might consider the Smarty Cam...

Here's a video from a TaG. Didn't bother putting a track map on it...

I think I have an MP4/AVC file too if you dont like WMV

Just got my Gopro last night Very Happy They should have instructions on how to open the box!!!! They were running a sale on the original HD $129, couldn't pass it up.....

If I didn't know how good the video was, I'd say what a cheesy piece it is....

Yeah they do look like some el-cheapo POS thing, but the video is pretty decent. Even took mine to the waterpark down the slides! Best $129 you'll spend.

I did see that, it's now $139 with the SD Card, mine was $129 and free shipping, and I have an extra card....

Well I messed around with the camera last weekend, how idiot proof these things are!!!! Mount it, and push the button, holy crap!!!

I bought the upgraded version of Racerender, pretty painless once you get sync pretty close with the Mychron data....

What format are you guys saving it too for youtube? Seems to take a long time to post process, I was wondering if the lower resolution would take less time and still be easy on the eyes...

I am eager to hear some responses to your question.

I am not please with the upload quality of the race I posted earlier in this thread. As low res as it was the main event I posted took about 20 hours to upload. I am sure there was a lot of data involved with Howdens voice, video and all the aim data but it took forever.

Post the link when done...

When you are uploading to youtube, vimeo or whatever having gauges on there or voiceovers or whatever has no bearing on how long it takes to upload. The upload time is a direct result of the size of the finished video, your internet connection and any throttling that the receiving end might do regarding bandwidth.

Next part is processing, this can take a LONNG time. Its important that the file you upload matches the format that thats ideal for the site you are uploading. The format pertains to code, bitrate and resolution. The closer a match your source video is to this, the quicker the processing will be. If the res is even slightly different that means more processing time and possible loss of quality... The more processing on the site\server side becomes involved the more you are at their mercy of CPU throttling as well as taking longer to process at peak times.
