There were go-pros all over the place, I am sure there is video coming. I was able to see the raw video of a Briggs spin and near miss that will have you griping the keyboard.
Also the WKA photographer and club regular KRAPP photos was there catching all of the action.

Great job SKC - as usual. I would have bet that some races would not get run on Sunday, but you guys fooled mother nature and got it done. A well run, well organized event in the distinctive "southern style". If you miss the Savannah National you are missing some of the best that road racing has to offer.
Jeff, thanks to you and the folks that left oysters in the cooler it's a mixture of Bienville and Rockerfeller tonight for dinner!

Doyle,
You and many others made a long haul to get to the track this past weekend, thnkas for your support of WKA and the SKC. As stated before, numbers we not what we had hoped, but the racing was as tight as ever.
My wife and I have a place over in Warrington and will be there soon with our girls, I would love to meet you at the Oar house next time we are there.
Thanks,
Dominic

Dominic,
I ment no disrespect and understand the undertaking to put a race on, we lost our track up here in New England to the economy and big buisness when NHIS sold and became NHMS. I did the tech their for 14 seasons.
After doing Daytona, Mid Ohio, VIR, and Summit then to have the season finale only three weeks from the last National......no wonder entries were low.
Hard to think that at Summit a well know laydown club and track that they fielded 14 sprinters, and not one of us entered WKA sprint at the final race of the season.
I think if this race was at the end of Oct like the old Charlotte date your entries would have been at least 1/3 higher. I would have gone with my team which brings four sprinters.......double the field at Roebling.
We all want the same thing......karting to flurish

| Having the race at Michigan same weekend didn't help either especially with Unlimiteds since the base of that group is MidWest. But I don't blame Lisa and that gang, they had to take the date offered. MKC is also a great club that deserves all the support. Living almost equal distance between MIS and Roebling, I really really wish I could have done both. I wonder if the clubs could explore on or near site storage? Insurance of course would be an issue. At least for me, I can fly to many places and get a compact rental for less--sometimes a lot less--than the fuel bill to trailer stuff. |

George, thank you for the nice compliment. You have a great idea about the storage, a great idea to work on during the winter months. We felt very bad about our event being the same weekend as the National but we had our date locked in since March of 2011. As you stated we only get what they allow us to have as do many of the tracks. Its unfortunate for all racers and clubs as so many clubs deal with this yearly. Glad to see your weekend was successful as well. When is the next SKC race in the winter might be a nice break for us Michiganders! _________________

Lisa,
So we will see you in Febuary??
Bob Verhing told me about your race and he had nothing but good things to say about past events and the track, so you are on my karting "To-Do list".
Eric,
None taken at all. Your points were valid and well understood by me. That is the exact reason I broke them down the way I did. I am sorry you were not able to come race with us, but I also understand we all have budgets and jobs that do not allow us to go to all of the reaces each season.
I was not kidding about the sponsorship though. Each club works hard to put on these events, and a small sponsorship or even sending in an entry knowing good and well you are not going helps.
Thanks for racing in the WKA road racing.

Was there any mention of the 2013 WKA schedule?
If now was there word of when it will be annouced?
I saw where the MKC has their date for next year at MIS.
I really wanted to race at MIS and will plan on saving $ for it next year.
Thanks,
Mike |

Mike,
We are still waiting on the dates we will be offerd for 2013 from the tracks. I know some of the dates are now firm for some events other clubs are holding and from those I have made my requests to the SCCA for track dates for our club. We should know soon as will the other clubs for the dates in "limbo". I wish we were higher up the totem pole at the tracks, but that is not the case right now. _________________ www.southernkartclub.com |

Where can I find out more about SKC and out if curiosity, are there any Honda shifter riad racers anywhere near central Florida that would be willing to help a racer get involved in road racing? I have a CRG with a slightly modded cr125 that was once used for long tracks. The engine, not the kart!
Been practicing on sprint tracks but desiring to run some long enduros!
Used to run Summit Point and VIR back in the day with a lay down and 100cc Yamaha so I have a little experience!
Thanks

Ace:
I live in Sarasota, and can probably give you a hand.
Alan:
No way you can have that ratty chassis that you got from George ready by Feb. It will take that long to get the rust off. |

I was hesitant to even post this because of the shaky quality of the video...but here is the first 7 minutes of the Yamaha Sportsman Medium race from Sunday.
