I would go:

Front Sprocket: 9-25
Rear Sprocket: 53-100


53 is the smallest rear sprocket you can get, so no need to go any lower. And some of the 4 cycle guys run 23 or 24 on the long road courses.

Is it a difficult parameter for you to change in the program?

Karting Tools 2.4 was released with the following features :
- jetting : new optimized main jet value. Feel free to give your feedback.
- gear ratio limits updated
- several tracks updates. Thanks for your emails !
- new United Kingdom tracks : Tockwith, Woodthorpe, Tilbury, Stretton, Tattershall, Hooton Park

Tim, is the gearing feature ok now ?

Hello,

Karting Tools 2.5 has been released with the following features :
- fuel oil mix : ratio in addition to percentage, default mode in settings
- new United Kingdom tracks : Lydd, Red Lodge, Larkhall, Milton Keynes, Pembrey, Rednal
- several tracks updates
- fix rotation bug on Android 4 or later devices

With jetting in this app is elevation taken into consideration? Most of the tracks I will be driving on will be well above 5000' in elevation.

I believe it allows you to use a local weather station for air denisty. So the closer that station is to the track the better, provided its at a similar altitude.

Been meaning to try this app out...

Since this is a discussion about jetting software/apps, I was wondering if those who are monitoring this thread would critique my jetting spreadsheet that I built. It can be found here:

Information about the spreadsheet:

Tab "Observed Data"
-This tab details data that I accumulated at the end of last season. Not a lot of data, but enough to notice a trend regarding the jetting. I noticed that it looked a lot like the density altitude curve when compared to absolute barometric pressure.
Tab "Theoretical"
-Long story short, I built a curve that is density altitude vs. percentage of absolute pressure, multiplied by what the jet "should" be at 0' Density Altitude.
-Cell I3: Theoretical Main Jet at 0' Density Alt. (User Entry)
-Cell K3: Theoretical Pilot Jet at 0' Density Alt. (User Entry)
-Cell A3: Density Altitude Observed (User Entry)
-Cell B3: Theoretical Main Jet at Density Altitude Observed (Calculated)
-Cell E3: Theoretical Pilot Jet at Density Altitude Observed (Calculated)

I'm not sure if this is the correct way to calculate Jetting for a Kehin PWK... I haven't had a chance to check it out yet... Based on my observation the curve looks correct, it will just take some work to adjust the "Theoretical" Jets at 0' Density Altitude (if this is the correct way to jet).

In no way would should anyone use this for their own jetting. This is for informational use only.

With that said, I am interested in hearing what everybody thinks about my logic, calculations, etc.

The other day I used this app, it suggested a 178(old Value) and 170(optimized value). Any jet bigger then 165 my spark plug would come out black and I was lucky to get above 11,400rpm. I guess if it is off being on the rich side is the place to be. Just trying to see why it might have given me the numbers it did. I am very new to the carburetor world and changing jets.

Hello,

I'm sorry to be late, we were hardly working on the iPhone version !

The suggested jets are computed from : temperature, pressure and humidity based on the nearest weather station.
5000' elevation should not be a problem.

Every time I have used the app the recommended jet has been a lot bigger then the one needed. I have not bothered using it since because to even use it as a starting point it is to far off.

Yes, last time I used it the optimized value was 170. I had to put a 165 in to get more then 12,000 rpm and it was still running rich.

It seems there are problems with the size stamp which Rotax put on their jets because it doesn't stroke with their real size.
Some Rotax resellers are able to measure the jets and give their real sizes.
Karting Tools only provides a suggested value which needs an adjustment.

Are you still using it ?

I looked at the app again today and it was suggesting a bigger jet then what was needed. The weather was similar(slightly warmer) to the last time I used it and it was suggesting a 170 or larger jet. With the 165 my spark plug was coming out the perfect tan color.

Also the weather station it is pulling info from is strange. I have not been able to find the weather station anywhere. What is even stranger is the track I am at shares a property line with an airport and the app does not use that weather info.
