Hey guys, another newb question.
I have read and heard a lot about how EGT sensors help with finding the perfect jet. Now the question is, how does someone install an egt sensor without breaking the Rotax rule of not modifying the pipe? |

Hook a tape measure on the bell of the pipe and measure back 50mm. I drill the hole so the lead is pointing straight up but it can also point to the side, just make sure it does not contact a seat strut of some other component. I actually just use 4mm steel lock nuts with 4mm flat washers and lock tite. Never lost one. _________________ Marshall Martin

Justin, I *believe* you can have the port installed and plugged and still pass tech. So you can run the EGT probe in testing and practice, and then plug the port for the official sessions.
Maybe someone will confirm this to be correct. |

I have run low 1300s, normally run in the mid 1200s.

No need to do this EGT is legal to use. _________________ Marshall Martin

Not exactly how EGT works. Just because your numbers are not the same as the other guy does not mean you should change your jetting.
What you don't want it the temp to climb up to say 1200 and then drop off as the RPMs climb.
The reason is because not all sensors are the same and not all locations are the same.
you need to tune to max egt at max load RPM. WITHOUT dropping off. which means you are leaning out too much up top and getting detonation. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |
