Why are they illegal?

Just curious as I am used to the moto world and not having to mess with replacing jets. To me it seems very practical, so why are they illegal??

Thanks guys!

Justin

I've wondered about this myself. Moving the fuel pump so you can get at the main jet through the hole that is already in the bracket, adjustable main jets, or any number of non performance improving modifications are prohibited. Rotax Max is all about keeping everything identical in theory. KT100 and other classes that have a tune on the fly carb, have some folks leaning out the engine to get some extra speed on the straights, and then richen it up for the corners. Rotax may have made the rule on an adjuster to prevent fiddling while driving, and to keep greedy folks from going lean every straight, burn a piston, and make warranty claims.
Leopard, or any other TAG class allows this, and if available at your track and might suit you better. If you are running Rotax Max you will want to use a weather station, and a chart or some software (unless you have a local TAG class that allows for looser Rotax rules).
