The rear inside wheel raises slightly right after braking just when turning begins...then immediately it settles down. _________________ Nikos

Thanks!
But yes, I've seen it.
Here's the second one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl6vKR1nFUs&feature=share
I'll be lucky enough to be sharing the same tarmac and racing with Davide Fore this September at PICK Patras. A street circuit race. _________________ Nikos

Hello all!
I think I have improved a lot, broke 42s. This session is at 41,9 which is very close to the big guys:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvf81H2ajPw
I was about 0,3 secs off of their pace that day.
Although, I have an inherent problem and I need your help.
The problem that I am having is with kart setup. I am making the huge mistake of trying to adopt MY driving style to the way the kart drives, instead of the opposite.
I don't know what to look for in order to improve the setup.
What should I look for in a lap?
When I get into the kart to start my session, all I wanna do is go quicker, so I am missing out on what the kart does.
I think I must switch my focus onto what the kart does in order to improve it, but what should I look for?
Thanks folks!!
Oh, by the way...had a chat with Davide yesterday and the day before at PICK Patras...a fantastic guy! Really amazing fella:

Nikos, Looks a hell of a lot better. You are rolling on the gas sooner on exit and your rear is not steping out as much as it did.
I would say try not to over drive the kart. What I see is some great laps and some bad laps. What I feel you should do is try and run consistent lap times. See if you can run lets say, 42.5 42.6 every lap for 15 laps. It not easy to do. If you try to run the fastest lap, yet run .500 slower on the other 8 or 9 laps, your final time for the session will be way down vs consistent lap times.
Relax and try to fight the adrenaline that is saying go faster. Calm, Cool, and Collected.
When you go out and test, bring it down a notch and try to feel what the kart is doing. When you run consistent lap times, its easier to make a change to the chassis and know what it did. If your lap times vary and you make a change its hard to dial in the chassis.
Again, nice improvement. |

Thanks Steve!
I see what you're saying.
The next session had a slower best time (by 0.3 secs), but much more consistent laps:
Check it out (also check out the lighting in the far distance at around the 6th minute mark):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQj_v3RyqEI
I think I am more consistent here. What do you think?
This is a good advice. I will calm down and instead of fighting for a good lap, I will try to find what the kart is doing. _________________ Nikos

Very nice, Your gearing is spot on. You can tell when you dont hit your marks the motor says buuuugh. One thing I did nottice is your brakes. It seems like there is a little to much rear. When you stand on them the rear wants to SNAP out and the motor locks up, just for a second. Try a little bit more to the front, not much though. Good job !!!!!! |

I keep having problems with my brakes.
Last practice I couldn't brake at all, so we changed brake pads, fluids and took the air out. It got a bit better but there's still a looooong travel from when I step onto the pedal to when the pads bite. I will change the travel a bit.
I have changed the bias to the front, but then after a while it goes to the rear. Why's that?
Also, what should I check when I'm going into a corner in order to help my mechanic understand what needs to be changed in terms of kart setup?
Thanks for your help! _________________ Nikos

Make sure the bias knob is not turning while driving. I had this prob with my Arrow. I was driving for a few lap and then the rear started to kick out under braking. Went back to the pits and found the selector was rotating from the vibration. I had to drill a small hole thru the knob a wire it to the lower lever. It worked. You could use a infrared heat gun and see what the rear temp is vs the fronts. The disc temp will tell you if the rear is much hotter than the fronts. Also, check the shims and make sure the pads are touching the disc at the same time front to rear when set at 50/50. Then move the bias to 60/40 front to rear.
To help my mechanic understand what needs to be changed in terms of kart setup?
It all depends on that you are trying to do. More turn in, less turn in grip, the kart reacts to fast, to slow, ect.
Great tool for tires and brakes. |

| Yeah, my bias selector on my CRG would go to full rear from vibration on the track. Had to lock it down. I think my bias adjuster might be missing somethinng? |

| Crg ven05's don't have shims. Just make sure they are blead properly, then set your bias. |
