|
|
Kart is handling pretty good, got a few things to sort out, but twice now i have bent the medium axle, this one worse then other, i did barely touch the plastic barrier..
Question is can i run the stiffer axle and run shorter hubs to get same handling but maybe stiffer axle will last?
Thanks |

| Possibly. It is worth a try but just to keep things sane I recommend getting a new replacement axle. |

i have never tuned in that direction...but i do in the other..
if i have a particular axle with medium hubs.....i might try short hubs to loosen a tight kart...if that is not enough i go to a softer axle and leave the short hubs.
are you on 40mm stuff? because if you go to a 50mm you can achieve the softness with an axle that will usually take more abuse.
just my opinion |

| you won't get the same feel the axel flexes in the middle and hubs control the flex at the end of the axel so hubs are used for the entry of the corner and axel is used for middle to exit theoretically |

you can take any seat struts loose...make sure your bumper is freed up and not binding...take the set screws out of the middle bearing,,,but dont take the bearing loose on a shifter...axle will bend right where the sprocket mounts.
have a 4th rail? take that loose first,,,then the rest.
i use a t6 in the crg line up and that is plenty soft with a pretty sturdy piece.
invest in some super short birel magnesium hubs...they are the softest...imo but they dont last long if you take them on and off alot.
i never lend them out and i have to keep them very clean and make sure the bolt is lubed on the threads to keep them tight...have to use the duct tape and zip tie trick as well.
just some other thoughts on what you can do to loosen the rear....lower the tire pressure...add caster...there are other things you can do to test what can work. |

A "hard" axle is probably going to being just as easily. Stay off the barriers or get some hire-kart style wraparound bodywork. _________________ CES Grattan pre-entry is open. TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart.
