well KM and Junior are over for another year. Looked like some really great battles.
Also warming to see people sharing a kart for other drivers that had some bad luck. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |

Big thanks to all involved in running the juniors at Nationals. The Steward was great, I loved his big grin and his "now lets go have some fun!" comments. He really related to the kids very well, but still ran a tight ship in grid to keep things timed well. I liked the fact he didn't start us way earlier than needed, just enough time to run up to get the helmet scanned without stacking up. It seemed like everything went smoothly with no significant delays to the overall event. Awesome job!
My family had a great time and will be back. Without the juniors there, I would not have made the event at all.
Thanks! |

That's good stuff to reply with in the forthcoming Nationals survey. |

Does any one have a high res of our group photo.... The clean one ... Is there a decent writer in the group ? It would be good to get solo nationals on the main EKN page _________________ Jason Vehige

| I watched a lot of the streaming video on my computer. Wish I could have been there. There was a lot of drama. Larry MacLeod pulled off a fantastic third run on Tuesday to jump into the lead. They were talking in the trailer about a section of the course that he took flat out and it held on to pick up over a second. We need details from the driver himself! Good job! Also, congratulations to Paul Russell for winning his 4th in a row! |

Quick summary:
West Course Run 1 - lots of mistakes, I was in the wrong gear 3 or 4 times. I slid out and got into the marbles a few times.
Run 2 - fixed the gear change mistakes and thought it was a lot faster, even though it wasn't.
Run 3 - I took the shortest line possible. I cut the distance in the sweepers, and stayed out of the marbles. I also came out of the "Let it Ride" BIG RH sweeper into the 2-cone offsets a lot faster than the previous 2 runs. After my 2nd run I realized I was braking too much there.
Not sure where I was flat out that other drivers weren't. I flat-footed the offset across the back (5-cone draw) and the 6-cone finish slalom on all 3 runs. I figure all the karts would be flat in those places.
Day 2 was full of mistakes on my first two runs. Run 3 was nearly perfect, except for one STUPID cone. I entered the slalom too tight and had to adjust, putting myself into a tail-wag. Rather than flat footing it, I was tank-slapping the kart and popped the cone. But the rest of the run was as angry as I've ever driven and woulda-coulda-shoulda....
Congrats to Paul on another win, and to JT on another 2nd place. JT has been top 2 for 7 years in a row. And he's leapfrogged me 2 years in a row.
