With few exceptions, I think the Olympics should be for competition in useless activities. So far it's doing just fine.

I personally find the Olympics to be a colossal waste of time and effort, but that's just my opinion. I understand that it provides entertainment for some people, so from that standpoint, they can be justified.

What's funny is I'm watching the Summer Olympics and I do find it boring compared to the Winter Olympics. When I stopped and thought about it I find the Winter Olympics more interesting because there are more high speed events.

Bob Sledding is really fast compared to running, skiing is fast compared to swimming, skeleton luge etc etc. I was just thinking it would be cool to see some kind of motorsport in Summer Olympics because it would bring the speed back.

Yep, it's an Olympic year and very predictably this tired subject rises again.

At least this time, it's more general. Usually, it's either karting (parochial) or F1 (even more expensive than a new set of Nikes).
