Registration is now open for the Buttonwillow race on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
Link for registration site is:
http://www.dlbracing.com/default.aspx?view=1
And instructions are available on our website - www.nckroadracing.com

We will be using track layout #1, and go COUNTER CLOCKWISE, meaning Sunrise to Sunset on the front straight, hopefully this will give us a better approach to Cotton Corners, at a slower pace to help with the irregular track surface there. All racers should give each other plenty of room and use this section of the course wisely. And we will use the Bus Stop, Phil Hill, Star Mazda, and also Section A, out past the Off Ramp to use the longest layout possible.
Track maps here: http://buttonwillowraceway.com/track-info/track-maps/

We will be using the same event format we used at Thunderhill. This combined race groups 2 & 3, and 5 & 6, and we added open practice sessions throughout the day to provide good breaks for the heat racers in 3&6 and 4&7.

For anyone wishing to just run the Open Practice Sessions - Select "Practice Only" as your entry in the online registration system.
All members, this is your chance to get your friends to come out and give a long track a try without the stress of a race event.
Use this as an opportunity to expose people to road racing.
Also, we are futher discounting Practice Only to just $100 for the entire day.
And we are still running our Junior special of $100 for ALL YOU CAN RACE.

We are looking for feedback on how to score this season. We started the season with 2 drop races because we wanted to cover the situation where someone might be forced to miss an entire weekend double race event a Reno-Fernley Raceway. Since they cancelled our events, we have dropped down to only 5 points races for this season, and 2 drops is a lot, but, changing things in the middle of the season is always a difficult issue. Your input is needed.

After this event, we will be preparing for our annual Western States Road Race Classic at the "Racetrack at Sonoma" - yes, good old Sears Point Raceway. As a reminder, for that event, no one under attained age 16 is allowed on the track. I keep asking and the answer doesn't change.

Schedule for Buttonwillow event follows - let me know any questions or comments -

(We reserve the right to change the schedule as needed, and we may look to drop the 11:00 practice session to get the racing going a bit earlier.)

We have heard from many about the roughness of cotton corners. Most drivers we talk to agree that running the track counter clockwise will make it a little more driveable. The bumps will be on the exit at a reduced speed versus going in the clockwise direction. It should be easier to drive around the worst of them. We have also voiced concern over this section with the track officials. We got an email from them stating that they have worked with a grinder to smooth the area a few different times this year for other groups. He said it would be better than it has been by the time we get there. He drives an F2000 car and said he notices the changes himself. Now with our experience at other tracks we believe it will still be rough but with the change in direction and their grinding work we hope it will be beter than it has been in a while.

Any of you So Cal people that are planning to come please help us get the word out about the practice group. Lets try to get a few new guys out and let them taste roadracing like we are able to do at Thunderhill.

Lets hope for a cool breeze that day too Very Happy

Have fun guys, you will have a new racer and good friend Fred Pinczuk. I convinced him to buy a Road Race Kart which he got from Anthony Williams. Say Hello to my mate and tell lies about how fast he is Wink
Fred is a Los Angeles based French Canadian so a little bit strange but he will fit in perfectly with your crowd :lol

Roger do I get a finders fee Shocked maybe a beer at Laguna Wink

There have been three FKE classes over the years. Which one(s) are you refering too?
I have some interest in pursuing a shifter 80 roadracer for FKE I.

Referring to the FKE II and FKE II II classes. You could get the 80cc guys to race FKE II II (which is 15 lbs lighter than FKE I @ 385#), that race in the same FKE I race group. Just a suggestion.

What are you refering to that you'd like to race in FKE? I've never heard of FKE II II. There's FKE III. What's FKE II II?

NCK has a number of "II" classes that are mirrors to allow entering 2 or more classes during an event.
FKE II and FKE II II are identical rules and are run at different times during the day.
