hello, I am currently racing a TAG on a brand new crg black star kart. I am no means a rookie or beginner. I have had more difficulties with this thing than any other kart i have driven. It just will not turn. Can someone help me out that has experience with crg karts? please email me

Nicky, I am a Tony kary guy but have raced many different chassis's. Whenever I am starting out on a new chassis the first thing I do is get my weigh out as close to the recommended settings as possible ( somewhere between 57%- 58% rear weight is usually close). Then set kart as close to a neutral setting as possible throughout the entire kart such as neutral caster/camber, middle ride height front and rear (if two rear settings put it in bottom holes or high ride height). Leave side bars and rear bumper loose, front bumper and floor pan tight. Depending on how many torsion bars you have only put the front bar in. Two seat struts (1 on either side of the seat). Now, if you can't get the kart to turn then usually the rear is gripping to hard and your wheel input is not jacking the rear end up enough to free up the rear to let the front turn. A couple of steps you could take would be to widen the front track or turn some caster into it (this will give the front more grip when turning the kart as well as through the whole turn), but be careful to much could cause bind making you slow off the corners. If the track is tight and has alot of 180° turns in it then adding some ackerman will make the kart turn very quickly. Remember front end geometry is VERY important, but always make small adjustments and usually never more than one at a time. If you have to go extreme you have usually went wrong.
Just my opinion!

Hey Nicky,
I drove a DR Kart about a year ago for a couple of races. It was a brand new kart and set up to manufacturers specs with the neutral axle in before I tested on it and I could not get the thing to turn either and then when it finally would the back would snap around on me. We ended up going really negative on castor and putting the rear bar in. and it helped a lot. I think we ended up at 2 degrees negative and the rear bar in, but flat. I know it's not a CRG, but it is pretty darn close. Hope this helps some.
