Getting back into karting

So I have been away for some while from the sport and I would like to get back into it. So I want to run the Tag class In the local ohio and Indy area. But what chassis size would I need and what motor package. Also I am 6'3 about 210Lbs on a bad day.

Jordan, go to whatever track/tracks you intend on racing at and see what chassis' are popular there. Meaning well supported by a local dealer. On the engine side, it will likely be either a Rotax or Leopard. See what seems to be the most popular as well. Sometimes clubs have engine specific classes--- like Rotax or Leopard.

OVKA in OH and KRA in INDY both have good TAG classes, it is one of the largest classes at OVKA and growing.

I agree, I would say a 32mm or at least a 30/32 chassis.

I see they have a very large class and showing. I so far have found my chassis. Its up in the area between a CRG RR or an Arrow X1E....what do you all feel about these to chassis

We love the Arrow chassis. My son runs an Arrow X1 (Leopard), which preceded the X1E. The Arrow is a pretty stiff chassis. We used to run a Kosmic T11, which was very soft. The Kosmic had a wider tuning window that the Arrow but the Arrow does what you expect when you make an adjustment. We have no experience with the CRG but my vote would be for the Arrow.

I do like the arrow X1 but i feel as I can't find one at a good price. since I am getting back into karting I'm not looking to take a loan out LOL. But Why doesn't anyone run Crg chassis anymore. I think there chassis have alot of adjustments. also I have never been around or driven a arrow chassis

It is best to go with what is best supported in your area. I don't think there is anything wrong with the CRG...they just might not be supported in your area. One of the reasons we went with the Arrow was the longetivity. I know a few guys running older Arrows that are still fast. We now have about 14 races on ours and it still looks like new. Our Kosmic (2 of them) was visibly sagging after 10 races and wasn't responding to adjustments like they used to. They were still very fast but there time was limited. We can't afford to buy a new chassis every year so we needed something that would last.

Are you buying new or used? If used, I'd be a lot more concerned about condition and price than whether it was a particular brand/model.

We have one Arrow X-1 TAG chassis in this area that had been run by 3 different drivers, always with a rotax. The first two ran senior and ran right up front. Now the same chassis is being run by a masters driver who is about 6ft, 210 lbs. He finished 4th behind me in a field of 10 last weekend at SIMA, so it seems competitive at that weight too. Also, this is its 4th year and it still seem straight and true, even though its mostly 30mm tubing and according to the conventional wisdom the current driver should be a bit big for it.

CRG's are always competitive, it seems.

I am not worried about name brand more of what runs good and what I can get help with on sunday's if I need help or parts.

Appco & Comet both support their local series and can support most if
not all chassis brands and engine makes.

with chassis I am still looking and learning as I see alot of new companies. But Does anyone know who the Crg dealer is for the mid-west.

Marshall Martin at LSR Motorsports and Kim Watske at PKT in Wixom, MI are both CRG Dealers I belive.
