Birel Freeline wheels on a Tony Kart

Hey guys, trying to pick up a cheap set of decent mag wheels for my TK Krypton and have come across some Freelines for a good deal. Is there anything that I should be aware of as far as differences between these and the standard wheels that are on the kart? Are offsets the same? If not, is there a place I can find out the offset of them? Thanks.

Matt,

Offsets are not the same. Try and stick with the OTK wheels for best performance, MXC's if possible.

However if you aren't at a point where you think you could tell the difference in handling, don't worry about it. It's always nice to have a second set of wheels on race day so you don't have to dismount practice tires.

I'd say I'm far from a point of noticing, I'm 2 practice days in ha. So you think the difference would be negligible for someone like me? It's between either those or some aluminum douglas wheels which come with rain tires (which came off a TK).

There's also nothing wrong with using the standard MXP wheel on the tonykart, we actually find it more consistant than the MXC. If you race mostly club buy a set of mxps and start off there, no real point in running the mxc's on a track without a ton of rubber.

The Freeline front wheels have the same offset as the OTK wheels (within a millmeter) The rear Freeline wheels have less offset by about 6-7mm I think. I can't quite remember the exact measurement but do recall that when putting the freelines on the rear, I had to widen the track by about half an inch total to match the track width with the OTK wheels.

For 99% of the karting community wheels that are round and hold air are absolutely suitable. Though, consistent offset is a nice feature.

If you can find a deal on a set of wheels that meet this criteria, i'd say go for it. Then again, I don't sell wheels for a living so what do I know?

Thanks guys, ended up buying the freelines. Good thing too, as this past Saturday I forgot to check wheel lug tightness between runs and my left rear came lose and made the holes in my OTK wheel a little oblong Embarassed

That's a mistake I won't make again...
