I have a spare Gazelle motor that was included in the package. The guy said that it was fine until the clutch blew apart, so he swapped engines instead of replacing clutch.

I checked compression at about 150psi (I am not confident that I got the best seal with the gauge due to the fins)

There is noticeable play in the crank. Is any play O.K.?

Is it salvageable? Does it need a top and bottom end? What does it cost for a top and bottom end?

150 psi is good for compression on this engine. So ring is sealing well.

When you talk about crank play is this up and down (bad) or side to side (some is good).

You want .006-.008" side to side play with new bearings. Up to .012" then its time to replace lower end bearings.

.0005" maximum up and down play.

Rebuilds depend upon the labor prices of your favorite dealer.
