All,
Do you like registering and being able to get right in, or would you mind having to wait until an email comes in that verifies your password?

Glenn, registering and getting right in is great, but if having to wait until an email comes in that verifies your password will keep people honest about who they are, then BY ALL MEANS use that method.
A lot of password protected sites use that feature. How it is done technically, I don't know
This forum is like being home again, it is fantastic to see real names, IMO.
My first experience back in April with TKWS forum was a post with a karter who runs at the track I will be at. Not long after that post I met him. Nice to be able to put a face with that real name.

Since WE are already here, let's make everyone else suffer! Just kidding. It's a one time annoyance in which you can include lots of background info such as acceptable behavior and such. No one could claim to not have had the opportunity to read the rules. No pain, no gain. Particularly if it helps with the real names bit.

Glenn, I do like getting right in but as you can see already we are having people use abbreviated names and such. I like the password idea. along with a credential form when filing out your profile.

Use the email approach, it will help keep the quality up and the policing down. I also want to *stuff the ballot box* for real names. It helps at the track when we see others (or as Dawn put it, avoid people

Real Names, if you please. Some of us older folks can remember the problems with screen identities.
Also, I would like a BIG spelczek button.
Great Job, getting this running. I would not expect anything less from Team Bonniville!!

Be careful on the e-mail verification. A big company like the one I work at has separate systems for e-mail and Internet. Quite often they don't both work at the same time. I'd hate to not be able to post while I'm work.. er,... on break! An in-depth profile (verified by the moderator at sign up time) would hopefully be enough!

Looks great..Real names please, I don't think the people you want using this forum would mind waiting for e-mail verification. I think Pete will be proud of the offspring of his site.

I feel the beauty of this configuration (current) is that there is no wait, and that is what most people like...no wait. I for one, would wait for an e-mail. But I base this mainly on the fact that I know you guys and I want to see you succeed. However, do you really think that the majority of the people that are bouncing around here will want to wait for you to send them a confirming e-mail every time that they log on? And how much more of additional hassle is this for you? On another issue, what about grammar check for the retards such as myself, that sometimes cannot an articulate bone in their body? Or am I behind on this one, too? OK, back to bed. L8r

Ok - time to lock this one in the barn. The truth is winning out!
I've found it neat to be able to see/meet/avoid folks whose postings I've read here and there.
And by the way - WELL DONE! Y'all have put a good succesor together in record time!!

Is it possible to have folks who wish to remain anonymous direct their posting to the moderator; who can then make a judgement call re: a possible legit reason for their anonymity. the post it as "Name withheld by request"?

No doubt about it. Use real names. I think it keeps people honest and they watch what they say a little more.
