Glenn and Jeff, Just wondering what kind of stats you are getting from the forum. You are approaching 600 members and it seems many new names are appearing. I wish we could entice some of the LURKERS to voice some opinions.

Darren,
The stats are great!!
I'm still analyzing the data from our web reports, separating our news traffic from the message board traffic. Suffice it to say, I am stunned and pleased by both sets of figures.
Yes, we have almost 600 registered users, which far exceeds what I might have expected, given that the boards are less than a month old.
I can sympathize with the lurker mentality, since that is my natural tendency. I prefer to read, watch, and listen rather than actively participate. Plus, I just don't have the time to be more involved in discussions and debates, which I suspect is true for many of the people who you wish would speak up more.

| Jeff do you have any way of telling how many "Lurkers" there are out there on average. I think "Lurkers" are great way to learn first, spend a month figuring out the do's and don't of the community before joining. Remember you only get one chance at a first impression. anyrate, thanks Jeff for this board, it sure is helpful. |

Darren,
In the test forum we are experimenting with a new way to reach out and slap someone who doesn't use their full name in their profile.

Glenn, what would you say if I had 300 alias's and I am actually carring on conversations with myself on the forum. Sometimes I agree with myself sometimes I verbaly abuse myself sometimes I just don't respond to myself at all.

Steven,
At this point, it would take a significant effort on our part to find out the lurker numbers. It would be interesting to know, but at the same time, we like the challenge of trying to produce a website/forum that gets them to participate more than watch.
You're definitely right, in that lurking is a good way to get a feel for a community.
I'm glad to hear that you find these forums to be helpful; we're doing our best to improve them each day.
Thanks,
Jeff |

Gent's:
I would like to make a suggestion. I have ask several people I know if they knew that Pete's site was now history. And some knew some didn't. When I told them about eKartingnews site they had a hard time finding the forum once they got to the site. I performed a test. I ask several of my friends to go to your site and find the forum. And this is what I got back. They ALL had a hard time once on your site. It appears your very nice graphic which says Discussion Forum is hard to read. Everyone noticed JUST the "e" logo instead of the lettering. After a second or third look (one guy gave up) they noticed it. Don't have a answer for a change but I though you would like to know what I learned. |

Roy,
Thank you very much for that information. This is exactly the type of feedback we need, because that which might seem intuitive to one fellow, might not be so clear to another.
The challenge for us is to make all aspects of this site as easy to navigate as possible, and I am aware that parts of our current format are anything but intuitive. This is a high priority for me personally, to make the navigation of Ekartingnews as simple as possible.
Again, thanks much for the input, and more than that, thanks so much for recommending your friends to the site.
