First of all, I would like to commend the originators of this site. I've been watching since the first day, and the growth is incredible.
This leads me to my first comment/question: I have already experienced some performance degradation (not being a techno myself, it could be a problem on my end). My question is, has "growth" in participation and membership been factored into the site's sizing? I'd hate to see it succeed in numbers, but fail in performance (we're all used to going fast after all).
The only other comment I have would be to include a 4-cycle forum even though our personal racing focus has "shifted" (no pun intended). I do believe that 4-cycles will eventually play a big role in the upper echelons of karting. One-stop information shopping is nice to have!
Thanks again for an excellent site! |

Personaly, I havent experienced not one slowdown since the consemption of these forums. Load times are very fast and never an issue. I'm on a cable connection (tweaked tcp window etc.etc. for throughput speed) but I have been to other forums and pages that I've seen a slowdown in speed. Even having a broadband connection, it doesn't make it a 'perfect' world, but just speaking on this site, not ONE slowdown yet.
Spanky fast!

I live in the mountains with no cable (OK, they at least give us cable TV) nor DSL. I live with a 28.8 dial-up and so far speed is just fine!

Wayne,
Thanks for the kind words.
We are concerned about what effect the forums will have on the performance of the site. So far, I have not experienced anything that I could deem as evidence of a degradation, though I am probably not the 'normal' user.
I'd like to hear what others may be experiencing.
We did include a 4-Cycle forum.
Thanks!

| As fate would have it, I tried accessing the site from work today (during lunch of course). Performance was great! So I guess that either my modem or Internet provider is the bottleneck. It does seem to change speeds during the day - fast in the morning, slow at night. Oh well, I guess I'll have to spring for a DSL or something similar. I did notice that sometimes using the "back" button after sending an email in the classifieds forum does some strange things. |

Speaking of performance looks like this site has well over 300 registered users so far in just a few days. TKWS "only" had over 1300 at last check.
Not Bad. |

On my cable modem access, this site is faster than the TKWS forum.

I have been switching back and forth between my DSL and my dialup accounts, since I find that load issues are difficult to gauge on the DSL. My dialup hasn't seen much difference between our forums and TKWS.
Keep these inputs coming, they are greatly appreciated.

Well living outside of the city, I use dial up and must say that the download time has been downright shockingly Awesome!
Look up look back down and it's all loaded.
So far so good!
Keep up the good work fellas. |

Jeff and anyone that needs broadband support/speed issues/patches/bottlenecks etc, you NEED to visit the site below. There are a lot of sites out there that claim to gauge speed, through put issues and so forth, but after looking into this site, you'll have EVERY tool you need to get the most out of a DSL/Cable/dial up connection there is. Known worldwide: http://www.dslreports.com
Dont let the URL lead ya to believe its a DSL site, its not.
Months ago after visiting, adjusting TCP window etc.etc.etc patches and so forth I'm getting 700-900kbps downstream and over 1.1 upstream
Yeah I'm a geek at times, I can't help it.
-Back to karting....(and to friggin BED)

Roy, thanks for the tip! Do you know if it is 2 way? That is, does it have the ability to SEND out e-mails and upload files to FTP as well as RECEIVE? I'd much rather hear it from someone not trying to sell me on how great it is
