| Gary Hartman's gone? When? Also add Beast, Trick, Indy, and Cobra to your list. If you go back far enough, also Challenger, Lancer, and STS from MSS. |

My daughter and I will be running Time Machines this season, nothing big, just some club stuff.
Unfortunately by the time Mike Clements got the chassis fully sorted we were at the end of the 2000's spending spree and it never got up enough numbers to be counted in this field. Still, good to see some interest in US built chassis. Hopefully it's not all nostalgia

John,
Very very cool, father and daughter running together. Your family is a perfect example of the need to keep the cost down. More often then not, when the child starts racing the parent stops due to cost. My son is in Afghanistan right now, but when he returns, we'll be back that the track together. Out of all the years I've been karting, I must say the most fun I've had has been with the two of us at the track as drivers. To the point where I'm probably going to run the clone class when he returns just so we can race each other. And no different they you, our focus will be the local level.
I didn't understand the importance of the over all cost until I started to times everything by two. Your point of saying "Hopefully it's not all nostalgia" can only be decied by us and where we spend our hard earned money. _________________ Frankie

Are you sure about this? John's been gone a long time but Gary was driving a cab in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. _________________ Greg Wright

My old age is acting up I suppose.

Time Machine
Beast
Challenger
Lancer (had a cool fuel tank driver panel)

| CTS made some cool shifter chassis around the turn of the century. I think Howden has one under a couple piles of some old magazine he used to publish. |

I'm rebuilding an 2001 CTS 80cc Attitude shifter. It's been sitting in my garage for 10 years. Great chassis, incredible workmanship. _________________ Rob Howden

Your right, that's the last news I've heard of Gary. It would be worth the cab ride money just to have him drive around talking about port timing.
You never know the decisions that someone may make. You just can't second guess the call, as it's their call to make. Karting misses Gary and his talents. _________________ Frankie

IKS (Banzai sprint & Enduro)
R&D Ron Mitchell (Enduro)
Hegar
Sbarbaro (?) Nor Cal Sprint & enduro)
ARM American Racing Machine Don Burke (enduro)
Shiffert (enduro)
Eyerly (first laydown enduro.) Pac Norwest
Hornet Richard Peck (sprint & enduro)
Plus there 30 or 40 still active building oval karts and quite honestly many of them are doing quite well!
Frankie, Dismore (Emerson) used to tell me he'd buy a Black Hawk when he got low on rod ends and part it out!! |

That's funny and he was right. That thing was one weird kart. I tried to find a picture, but no luck. I have a couple old tech manuals I'm sure there's a picture in one of those I may be able to scan.
Beside all the crap on it, two things I remember. It had this goofy triangle fuel tank that set between your legs that was mounted off the steering shaft or some damn thing. And there wasn't a floor pan between the seat and where you put your feet, it was all open. Hence they couldn't mount the tank to the floor pan between the frame rails, as there wasn't a pan there.
I had an IKS enduro.. We didn't get along. I thought it should roll on it's tires, it thought it should slide along on my helmet. _________________ Frankie

You obviously should've duct taped a cat belly-down to the floorpan.
Thanks for all the input, gang... Never knew there were THAT many, but glad to hear it. Does sadden me a bit to see the demise of American originality and independence in karting... Hopefully the latest Comet offering catches on and the other still existing brands grow stronger... _________________ Owner, www.hamiltonhelmets.com // UAS Racer #76 // Karting for karting's sake...keep it fun! |

| Steve Huffman built 2 twins in the 80's. He raced 1 successfully before the cover kart (karting digest) TNR twin crashed into him at Blackhawk. I had the other with yamaha's. Steve was fast with the dual red/yellow kart. |
