| Hey guys, before I buy anything I am trying to figure out if I have to have a 15 degree mount to mount my 206 (Animal) on a sprint chassis ? Is there a possiblity I can use an 8 degree ? Thanks for any help ! |

| Either a 5 degree or an 8 degree mount will work depending on the space that you have over the rear tire and/or the room you have around the seat struts or rear crossmember. |

| The 15 degree will work better on most modern sprint chassis. They help create clearence for the chain over the cross bar behind the seat. |

| 15 degree mount solves allot of problems. Arn't most exhaust pipes made for a 15 degree mount? |

I've used 5, 7 ,and 15 deg mounts on 206 and World Formula engines with no problem on just about any kind of international kart frame. Personal favorite is 7, but they all work fine. The 15 may require a float level adjustment. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

| Just my opinion but I prefer the 15 deg for two reasons. The sump created in the front of the crankcase and another that doesn't get much mention and that is more cool air flow to the cylinder head which helps keep things in that area of the engine cool and sealed. |

The one thing I've learned for sure is you can't tell what chassis will accept an inboard drive motor until you actually try to put the whole combo on the kart. Clearance from the seat and strut, how the clutch is mounted, what gears you'll be running, your chainguard, and adjustability of the mount all come into play here so you really need to start putting stuff together and see how it goes. I also like the 15* mount but if I had something else already I'd give it a try.

I just ordered a new WF and a 15 deg mount that will go no an 08 CRG Kali sprint kart, it should be here sometime next week.
What do you look for to adjust float level, jet and or needle position, CHT temp, If so what temp?
I guess I could temporarilly rig my car's wideband Oxigen sensor but that would be a lot of work and would eat the battery pretty fast.
I would hate to be lean because of the mount, and hurt a new engine.
Any other advice is appreciated Thanks |

It's not an issue. I have WF's on flat , 7 deg. and 15 deg. mounts , never had a problem with float height on any mount. I've seen head temps all over the place ,from 340 to 380 deg. , my kart has shows temps at 420 but I suspect it's the Mychron unit itself as I've changed everything on the kart multiple times ( engines , sensors , carbs , jets, etc. ) . Last night I fired up two of my karts at the same time in the pits and my kart , jetted richer, actually went to 60 deg. higher than my daughters at idle. My personal choice for mount angle is either 5 or 7 deg. Gives a little bit of oil sump and no concern for the carb angle. It looks like the 15 deg. would give carb float issues but in reality I've seen zero such problems. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

Thanks Bernie, I ordered the engine, exhaust, oil etc. from your friend Jim at Faster motors, great guy to deal with.
Thanks again, Harold |

Bernie,
Finishing up the engine installation today, the 15 deg moot provided plenty of clearance for the chain, have a couple of questions:
I wonder how you install your cht sensor on that tinny plug, perhaps it would be better to mount it under a bolt head with a large washer somewhere on the head or go with egt sensor instead?
What oil catch can do you reccomend? i'v seen MCR engines porting the breather tube back to the oil fill plug, but it did not seem to have a vent fitting.
Do you change the oil after the first iddle warm up and low load runn as the manual reccomends when braking in?
You also mentioned using Briggs racing oil (got 5 qrts ) when the manual mentions running good mineral oil for brake in, just checking to make sure I understood you.
Thanks |

Break the engine in with the oil you are going to use. Period! The Briggs oil continues to impress. You will like it. I would change the oil after the initial warm up and after the first break in session on the track.
The cyl.head temp sensor to use on the WF is available from Mychron ( I'm assuming you have a Mychron unit ). It is made specifically for the WF 10 mm spark plug. EGT is not allowed under IKF rules.
The IKF ( rules we race under ) does not require an oil catch can. I've seen a lot run with just the open valve cover hole. Normally no problem. There are numerous catch cans available, just be sure they are well vented to allow free flow for the pulse valve in the valve cover.
Call me if you have any questions. _________________ I breathe ,therefore,I race |

I ran without a catchcan for the oil breather for a while without problems until I ran on an oval, then had oil blown all over my outside tire My WF came with a rubber tube that fits the opening, and I simply pushed some fuel line into the end and routed to the fuel catchcan that I run off the carb. |

Lots of people seem to ask the question "will a Briggs, or clone work on such and such chassis." The only answer anyone can give about specific chassis would be if they had actually mounted one but I recently had one of those moments with a chassis I picked up locally. I documented the process on my website here:
http://evkc.org/2701.html
So I wanted to share this with anyone who's thinking about putting a 4 stroke on a 2 stroke chassis.
Let me know if you have any questions....

| I actually cut out my Seat Strut on my birel 2cycle chassis and bought a movable seat strut for more clearance of the chain. |
