Just as the title says, I was wondering what everyone did with their old Clone engines?

I am a teacher in a suburb of Chicago and we teach a small engines course and currently teach with a whole bunch of old Briggs engines that are falling apart from being torn down and rebuild dozens of times.

I am hoping to see if people would be willing to donate old engines. Obviously people who live far away it would not make sense to do this. But maybe people could consider donating to a local school that may have a use for it.

Thank you for your time.

Alex, You might want to make contact with the Education group at Briggs & Stratton. They always have affordable engine kits to help teachers like yourself. If you haven't signed up yet, the Powerportal will let you download a wealth of teaching materials as well as allow your students to take online tests on various engine related subjects. I have a 100% bias but it's a pretty powerful teaching tool/program.

Materials are not an issue, we have been teaching small engines for 30+ years in the district and have been working with Briggs and Stratton with their program throughout the time. I am just looking for ways to keep costs down to a bare minimum considering every school is cutting costs in every way. We will still use Briggs engines, but I figured donated honda clones would be a good way to teach them trouble shooting if we get them and bug the motors...

I run an outdoor power equipment shop and we donate lots of equipment to our local trade school. Mostly they get small stuff like leaf blowers and weed whips but if they wanted engines I'd be happy to oblige.

I suppose worn out race engines would be ideal though since everyone would be looking at the same thing. You might want to contact your local tracks directly, they could put the word out to racers and your program would also be a good home for "cheater" engines when tech finds them.

Cheers.
