Hey guys,

In attempting to help SKUSA make a post to the thread regarding the future of the S5 class, I mistakenly deleted the entire thread. My apologies.

SKUSA will be re-posting their statement, and I would hope that the S5 families who commented initially will again be part of the discussion.

Official SKUSA Statement Regarding the S5 Class on the Pro Tour:

We believe that it is time for SKUSA to make an official statement regarding the potential positioning of the S5 class on this year's Pro Tour.

We remain a big fan of the S5 program and it has been exciting to see the emergence of many new S1 and S2 stars who have come out of our Junior Stock Moto class. That said, while we are pleased to see that there has been some stated support on this forum for the class on this year's Pro Tour, we have come to the point where we are going to require a pre-determined number of pre-entries for the SpringNationals for the class to be part of the series in 2012.

Please consider this an official statement regarding the potential placement of the S5 class on the SKUSA Pro Tour line-up. We are expecting to open online registration by March 1, and we will need a minimum of 10 entries in the S5 class by April 1 to keep it alive. This includes the entire Pro Tour AND the SuperNationals. If the class is dropped from the Pro Tour, it will NOT be on the schedule for the SuperNationals.

If you want to see the S5 class continue, it is time to step up and support it. There is only a set number of race groups that we can run on the Pro Tour stops, and we need a significant number of S5s to warrant dedicating a race group.

This is not open for discussion, so DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE! We've heard all the promises of entries over the last five years, only to have people sit out. Right now, you can make your statement by entering the event. If we are forced to drop the call, the entry is fully refundable.

This movement could obviously be fueled by stated commitments to this thread, and we will update this post with the name of the drivers who have entered and/or have stated on this thread that they intend to compete at the SpringNationals.

The ball is now in your court.

As per the above statement, the following drivers have stated their intent to campaign the SKUSA Pro Tour should the S5 class be retained:

Micah Hendricks is intending to run S-5 for the entire Pro Tour for 2012, Spring, Summer, and Supernats.

I made a post about a month ago and it seemed to spark some interest.

Thanks for the post and for your interest in keeping this class a part of the program.

Sincerely,

Kris and Micah Hendricks

Hello racers,

We are currently up to the five-entry mark for the S5 class. We would urge that all S5 drivers get in contact with those not already confirmed, so that we can correctly identify the ability for the class to remain on the Pro Tour line-up. We will be opening registration soon for the SpringNationals in Phoenix, and has stated, we will need 10 entries by April 1 to continue.

Andretta will be attending all. There were several S5s planning to attend from the Dallas area. Hopefully they will chime into the forum as well.

Those S-5s in the Dallas area or any other area please post a reply with your intentions as it looks like we are close to having enough entries to have the S-5 stay alive for the Pro Tour series.

Please Rob H. or Patti K. know your support and intentions via response to the forum or entry into the Spring Nats.

We look forward to having you join us.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Kris and Micah

Andrew Evans is registered for SpringNationals in the S5 category and intends to run the other Pro Tour events as well. This has been a great class to participate in - we would be glad to provide any support or guidance we can to those considering participating.

Best Regards,
Andrew and Paul Evans

We just bought a shifter kart (S5), and in the process of learning the bigger kart as my son just turned 12 this week, and is moving up from Mini-Max. If we can get a couple of races under our belt then I'm roughly 75% sure we will make it to PHX. I should know more about our chances of making it in a couple of weeks. We will make sure we are registered well before the end of the month.

As far as others here in North Texas, there is one more S5 driver here that is considering making the trip with us and one other that said they were not going for sure. I've not heard from the others to see what their plans are.

Colorado has 4 S5 drivers in various states of readiness for national competition. Wogrin--ran S5 @ supernats last year. Roshak-turns 12 right after SpringNats, Leavitt--I can't speak for him. And a fourth mystery driver that just came on scene. I doubt Phoenix will be a reality but Utah and Supernats seem pretty solid for Colorado drivers.

Please don't cancel S5! I'll be working hard to get all 4 drivers and teams together and race ready.

It was a good day at The Track at Centennial on Sunday with S5 champ Austin Schimmel and runner-up Ryan Rudolph as well as new S1 convert Corey Milne all turning laps and helping out new driver Evan Roshak. Evan is driving S1 champion Daniel Bray's kart this year as he learns the ropes.

I think my son Aaden Veazie might be the mystery driver in Co. you mentioned. Aaden will not be ready for Pheonix, we are still working on getting a legal motor together. We are definitely planning on Utah, and the SuperNats.

We are extremely pleased to confirm that we have reached our goal for 10 driver commitments in the S5 class for this year's SKUSA Pro Tour. At this point, a total of four drivers have officially entered, although we have the remaining six confirmed through e-mail or via this forum thread. Interest in high and were very excited about the possibility of between 15-20 drivers in S5 for the SpringNationals in April.

We would like to see continued discussion on this thread to keep promoting the program so that we will get the final drivers officially entered. Our pre-set deadline for the 10 drivers is April 1, so we urge that those drivers who have confirmed get online and complete their registration.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Phoenix.
