The second stop of the 2012 Gatorz Challenge of the Americas will take the teams from the USA, Canada, and surrounding countries to the Phoenix Kart Racing Association (PKRA) Formula K Raceway in Glendale, AZ this weekend. The international Rotax Max Challenge series will see all seven Rotax categories battle on the 3/4-mile circuit, with the Senior, Junior and DD2 divisions fighting for a spot at the coveted Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal later this year.

EKN will be on site once again providing its 'EKN Trackside Live' coverage, found at www.ekartingnews.com/live . Live audio broadcasts will begin Saturday and Sunday morning just as qualifying begins and continues until the final checkered flag for each day. Be sure to check this thread for updates throughout the weekend - including the top-10 from each session - as well as www.facebook.com/eKartingNews and www.twitter.com/eKartingNews

Hey guys,

I made the trek out from California with Andy Seeseman and his crew, so I've beaten Cole here by a couple days. David flies in tomorrow night, but the action has already started here at PKRA. The team tents are going up and limited testing has begun. Rolison Performance Group, Team WRS, BBR Karting and Glover Brothers Racing (GBR) were already here when we arrived last night, and Billet Performance rolled in later in the evening.

Seesemann's Full Throttle Karting crew is prepping karts, while Junior Max winner from Phoenix, Blaine Rocha, is again under the FTK tent with Eric Bartolero from Kartel. The surprise news is the participation of Aussie star David Sera, who was diverted from his flight home to race this weekend in an FTK Arrow in a last-minute deal. Sera will be running Seesemann's personal chassis. Sera turned some laps this morning. This should certainly make things exciting.

A good number of local drivers have entered for the weekend, and the numbers are expected to be a little better than Tucson, which is just flat-out positive all around.

EKN Trackside Live: Friday Practice Sessions

Hello race fans!

It may be Daytona 500 weekend for the rest of the motorsports fraternity, but the karting community has a dual focus this weekend as the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas is heating things up here in Phoenix. The official numbers were hearing are 118 entries spread out over the seven classes (and six race groups). Senior Max features an exciting 38-kart grid, while Junior Max has 34 racers. These are great numbers for this growing series.

We are now in our lunch break, and will be getting back at it at 1:00 pm Mountain. At 2:30 pm MT, we'll start the final practice sessions of the day- the 30-minute hot pit runs that we'll be streaming live of the EKN Live page.

We'd like to take this time to thank the sponsors of this EKN Live broadcast and we hope that you'll consider them when making your next purchase, as they are the reason that we can do this:
