Just two guys that want to make karts the way they think they should be.
Our Goal: Completed karts by the Southwest Karters one hour Enduro race in October.

So Benn... what are the "rules" are going to govern this event? Wheel base, width, displacement, fuel capacity, etc... my chassis is underway and I have a few engine options, at present...
Can I assume you're using the CR500 powerplant..? _________________ "smarter, not harder.." |

Nathen,
No, the 500 is reserved for the Birel. I'll have enough trouble sorting out a new chassis, I don't want the engine to complicate things! The kart will be a fully legal ICE/Unlimited 250 kart. Now if you want to leave a little extra room on your machine for alternate power plants, that's up to you.
If you would like to be a part of this competition (for which there is no prize), just send some pictures and a description of what you're doing (and a logo). We'll set you up with your own section and everything. Alan hasn't been taking any pictures lately but he's from Texas and besides, I think his girls are running the show there.
Anybody that wants to show off their Road Racers under construction I'll be happy to post them. The more people see this stuff, the more people get interested in it!
P.S. I updated the site a little. Some of the welding is done and the frame is really taking shape. _________________ Benn Herr

Nathen, not sure of your Physical location in the US, "our superkart build off race", is scheduled for the end of october in Phoenix, Arizona. I dont mind if 10 builders join our"superkart build off", but i do think you should have a completed, race ready superkart for the october race at Firebird raceway in Phoenix, Arizona.
I will do my best to update pics of my build this week !
I am still machining parts for the camber and caster adjusters.
I was milling some pieces last night, and got some complaints that the milling was Tooo LOUD

Don't worry, Alan I've got 9 months... it is just a kart, I could make a baby before the race if I wanted to. hahaha
I'm only kidding, Alan. I have raced with Benn's group with a SuperDyne/Leary Mod Moto CR125 on and off for a couple seasons and have logged a few hundred laps on Firebird Main. As a long time drag racer, I love the track configuration. However, compared to my 7-second turbocharged Suzuki GSXR1100 dragbike, the karts do tend to feel a little slow on the big straight. As my chassis has been in the works for a couple seasons, I just need to settle on which engine package I'm actually going to use. As a big time surf enthusiast I'm going to dub my kart the "Big Gun" and may have to pull out all the stops in the horsepower department. I'm excited to add my outside the box thinking to this friendly match. However, I will be the young, dumb, less experienced of the build-off group. I am but a boy amongst men. _________________ "smarter, not harder.." |

nathen, i believe the 1 hour race will be held on the Firebird west track in october, not the main track in years past.

Speaking of that...
Benn, are we planning to run the Enduro on the West track in October? The Pro Autosports 2012 schedule says the Enduro weekend is during the traditional November holiday week... _________________ "smarter, not harder.." |
