|
|
So I bought a new Tillet T8 from a reputable company along with a few other items(front wheels, and new hubs, misc hardware). The seat arrived with about half a dozen small star cracks of varying intensity and size. They ranged from 1.5 to 3 inches and from 3-4 cracks to a full spiderweb. Is this "normal" for a new seat or did it get damaged from shipping? I tried to take a few pictures, but they didn't come out well. _________________ 2002 Birel CR32V/ StockMoto w/PI |

Ohh it's worse than that. I've put in 5 orders for stuff from major kart retailers this year. Of those 4 have had some sort of issue. Wrong parts, missing parts, broken parts, and out of stock parts. To be fair, it was to 4 different companies, and all 4 made right regardless if it was their fault or not, but it gets annoying after awhile. _________________ 2002 Birel CR32V/ StockMoto w/PI |

Something pretty bad must have happened to that seat or it was faulty built. These things are designed for abuse, considering it's about 5mm thick and gets stood on half the time and the other half it's getting slammed on bumps. _________________ #35 AS, SCCA WDCR |

Looks like an impact spider to me. What you are seeing in the photo is fractures in the gel-coat. The fiberglass itself does not appear to be damaged, just the gel coating on the surface. I'd still not be too happy, but a penetrating sealant/cement (super glue?) might pretty much make it diasppear. Think in terms of repairs done to car windshields.
If there are a bunch of those, I'd say that someone pretty much tossed the seat around whenever it was moved from point A to B, with no regard to care of new merchandise.
