| Renspeed, you should come out too. Get Burns off his fat @$$ already, he was talking about it last year. Sean might be in too. |

Besides concerns over my readiness to drive a kart by mid-April, my real worry is the potential for ccccooollllddd weather at the event. I did a little digging through a weather database for the timeframe. Extremes are highs in 40's or 80's, with lows 30 to 50's. A more "average" year means lows around 40-45 with highs in the 60's. I could handle that, I guess. Here are the high and low temps for the middle of April, last 10 years:
2002: April 12 low 46, April 16 high 89 TOASTY!
2003: April 13 low 37, April 16 high 86
2004: April 16 low 34, April 16 high 68, mean temp that week about 50
2005: April 16 low 32. April 14 high 63, mean temp that week under 50 brrr.
2006: April 14 low 52, April 15 high 82 That would be suh-weet!
2007: April 14 low 33, April 14 high 56 Brrrr.... Mean in mid 40's COLD!
2008: April 16 low 33, April 16 high 66, mean temp that week mid 40's COLD!
2009: April 13 low 32, April 16 high 61, mean again mid 40's COLD!
2010: April 15 low 37, April 16 high 84, mean 48 on 13th, and 70 on 16th ??
2011: April 15 low 43, April 14 high 69, mean mid 50's for the week. |

I'm curious who will be putting the Renspeed back together...
I'm definitely OUT for the DC Pro. In fact, I'm 90% out for the Toledo Pro. My kart is still on the wall in the garage, and might be staying there for a while.
Maybe by June I'll get the motivation to put Jackson's FJA kart together so he and I can co-drive it up in Oscoda a few times. _________________ F125 #196

Lefty, are you volunteering to help?

You know that the Gold/WF is always available, should Jackson need a 4-cycle powered ride. Not sure I want to commit maximizing it for him by changing the seat, but he drove it last year with no real issues. I think even you would get a kick out of it at Barstow... If the weather cooperates, Christian and I will get to use it for laps @ Pittsburgh Race Complex (FKA Beaverun) on the way to DC. http://www.pittrace.com/ |

Appreciate the offer. But why would anyone want a 4-cycle in FJA? That's crazy talk. Everyone knows 2-stroke KT-100 is SO much faster...
Seriously, we'll stick with the KT100 if its the only kart in the garage getting work, it becomes a LOT easier. _________________ F125 #196

I had a great time at my first Pro over the weekend. It was very well organized and the folks that I met were friendly and helpful. The weather was great; sunny/slight overcast with a slight breeze. Course layout was nice, but the left side was a bit on the bumpy side.
Lessons learned:
1. Err on the side of caution for reaction times. Red lights suck and it's better to loose a little time on the tree than to loose the run to a red light.
2. Get a fin put on the front of the kart for staging. I lot a run due to not being staged. I was likely staged with one of my feet and lost the stage light when revving to launch.
3. I was humbled as I expected.
I hope to see some of you again at Toledo. I'll likely bring a couple of FJB competitors along with me.
Highlight of the event: Getting a perfect 0.500 light and winning a free ProSolo entry. |

Yep, DC was a truly great event. Lots of new faces and old ones too . Good weather and even better racing. Nice work on the 500 light, shows you are really going for it. Toledo should be a real show down only to be bested by Nats. |

Sounds like a plan. No bumps, hills, or off-camber turns, but great competition!

The only one posted during competition days, I might add. I thought you had red lit for sure, when you got such a huge jump on me that run. A look at the clocks during the cross-over to the other side explained it all. Good job, rookie! |
