Does anyone know when Emmick will be back in business? I have called the numbers listed on their website and one is no longer operating and the other mentioned that they were moving but that was two months ago.

I would like to inform you that Emmick Race Karts have moved on 01/06/2012 to a temporary location in North Sacramento. They had a county permit issue that arouse unexpected. They were in the wrong zone for Manufacturing karts even though they issued a permit to do so. So now they are looking for a building that is zoned for manufacturing . They are now temporay in two location until the final move. They are working out the final details on the new Location. They want to be 150% sure that this would happened again. It was a unexpected setback they don't want to go thru again. You can call 916-852-8110 which is the line that is working now. also you can email them at emmickracing@comcast.net. alternate Email address

Don
I bet all the county wanted was money LOL. And they wonder why so many buisnesses are leaving the state. Great American Made Chassis and very good people. I wish you luck at your new location.

I too ran into unexpected delays getting my new location open, although it might seem like it's about money usually it's not. If the county didn't enforce zoning and other laws equally just imagine how things would be (or better yet just travel somewhere where they don't and you'll see).
Best of luck to Emmick in their new home
I have fond memories racing against them back in the 70's with my Invader, hopefully we'll see more US built karts in the coming years

Who operates EMMICK now?
I know that Ron and Linda left the building long ago. I heard that it has changed hands several times since then.
What kind of chassis do they make now? _________________ David Siller

Ron and Linda did vacate the old shop which Kartel motorsports now operates out of!!!!
In regards to the company changing hands a bunch of times, that is not a true statement. The company is still in the hands of the Emmick's extended family and they are also good people. Give them a call and I'm sure they will clarify on any concerns you may have _________________ GwenGarwoodRacing.com

I really need these parts duplicated to complete prestine Emmick Arrow restoration and will pay large sum of money to get it done and prefer Emmick do the work since they did similar for a friend restoring an Emmick Star, Bobby Garland.
Don how can i get these parts( i have the old bumper and reverse match gas pedal) to you out there to be done? Thanks.

Bob:
I contacted David and forward your email to him and also called him to inform him to call you asap. I don't know what is wrong with his answering system but we will get this resolved quickly. I am sorry you are having this much trouble. Because of the move we are now in in location and it is causing some problems. Ill call you tomorrow to see if David has called you back. I will have a answer tomorrow as to where to ship those parts so we can reproduce them.
Once again Sorry for the communication Problems

Timing is everything! Don, just found out, today, that the company i work for is closing our facility, effective June 1. So needless to say all karting will be put on hold including these parts. Best of luck with your move, i do feel honored to have in my collection an Emmick built kart. Thanks.

Bob:
Sorry to hear about the closing. This is happening far too much and is having a effective on karting as a whole. I just seen a new clone kart package imported from China complete roller with motor for less than $2000.00. They did a real good job of copying the Italians. It makes it real hard to compete with stuff like this going on.

Emmick doesn't need to compete with other companies on price, if they do they'll get killed by the Italians way before people switch to Chinese built karts.
Emmick will do well to concentrate on areas where they have a natural advantage. There are still plenty of folks out there running KT100/HPV/KPV 100cc piston port type karts. Focus on being the best in that area since the Europeans don't really do that kind of thing anymore. Build a really good Gold Cup chassis that can compete with Arrow, the better teams will buy American made especially if it comes with a good selection of axles. Why not build a really good Stock Honda chassis, there's another group that wants quality and will pay a premium for a US built product that works especially if you have options for long tracks like maybe a longer wheelbase....
Good kart chassis are built where they race karts, not where the cheapest factories are. Even the clone guys realize this since so many of them run used American built chassis now. Once the old chassis they've been running wears out, or the game gets more competitive they might just go looking for the new replacement for the 25-year-old Emmick they've been racing

| Hope Emmick survives. I had a '88 Express sprinter that I sprint, street, & road raced with US820 & KT100 motors. The only thing I changed that actually improved the handling was the seat. Great kart. |

I hope Emmick makes it with flying colors.Have a 92' Express that's seen a lot of action, and it still is a solid performing kart. Going to put a clone engine on it this year and race it. Hope Emmick will start making parts for older karts including replacment frames.Good luck Don. _________________ Gary R. Getz Jr. |

Could I respectfully suggest that replacement frames for older karts would be a bad business idea as well as a bad deal for the racer.
If you like the company and product why not tell them what works for you on your older kart and ask them to incorporate those features into a new product. While making replacement parts for vintage racers is cool it won't likely pay the overhead for the modern shop you'll need to compete with other current designs.
Besides, more than just the chassis wears out on a racing kart. For the money and time spent replacing a worn out chassis on a dated design I think most folks would be better off buying a new kart that will enable the manufacturer, and their customers to compete at a level that will attract new business.
