I have been trying to sell my kart with no success so I am thinking about justing bolting a clone engine on and doing some club racing with it. The chassis is a 2005 Intrepid Suzuka, rear brake only, 50mm axle kart. I dont think that just bolting it on will work but I figured the jackshaft setup is probably the easiest way to go. Can anyone suggest or recommend a good jackshaft kit and also how much different is your gearing compared to a standard mount setup.

Michael, go to www.burrisracing.com and go to our store and click on the jackshaft link. You'd need the DE type and we have sold a lot of these for that purpose. A side benefit is the engine can be moved farther to the right over a conventional left drive set up. Email us if you have any questions.

Why would you ever want to use a jack shaft on a clone they only turn 6K. You need a 15 degree mount and put your sprocket mount to the left of the middle bearing. You could start with a 14/60 gear ratio.

Walt most Euro chassis have an angled rear cross bar that interferes with the rear sprockets when driven on the left sde of the engine. The two major benefits are getting the engine farther to the right for seat clearance and no hacking of the rear tubes s necessary.

With nearly 20 World Formula karts at PKRA Raceway in Phoenix there is only one kart that elected to use the Burris jackshaft. Easy install , neat package. Many questioned the power loss because of the extra chain , sprockets . bearings. Well this particular kart holds the track record for World Formulas. That SHOULD put an end to that discussion. Hats of to Mike and the crew at Burris.

I have a world formula bolted to a Burris mount (15 degree I think) on an Intrepid Cruiser. They don't look much different than the Suzuka in the back, and I don't see a need for a jack shaft setup on this chassis. I'd imagine that a clone would fit just as well.

Oh and I found this Suzuka with a WF if you want pics

If a WF fits a clone will fit.

ChainDragGONE has developed a engine mount, chain management system that allows the Clone to raced on the EURO karts. The placement of the seat struts sometimes makes the installation a challenge . Most often the clutch position is the biggest issue we have delt with.
The addition of the Exorcist wheel an industry leading design, rolls with the chain. The wheel supports the chain with a ribbed Idler so the chain will clear the cross bar on different chassis. We provide the mount in the American and International frame rail spacing. Visit the web site to learn more!
