|
|
Just saw this Komet news from last October about an exchange program for clutch drums: http://www.ekartingnews.com/news_info.php?n=19186
Is IKF continuing with the 6-hole drums that we all had to buy at the beginning of last year? |

| Looking at the rulebook that was just sent out - rule 620.19.1 states that as of 1/1/2012, Drum p/n D-71550, 3 hole drum are the only clutch drums allowed. |

All this KPV clutch business is a joke!! Not that my opinion matters much but if the old HPV clutch was also legal to run, I believe that not only would it keep the cost down on these new clutches, it gives the karter a choice. Which clutch would you want to run? A clutch that when you burn it up, all you have to replace is just a $40$ friction disc or up and over $200$ when you burn up one of these new style clutches?? As far as which one is faster I know from testing both quite a bit they are the same!!

| Sounds like the typical karting deal. |

I imagine this doesn't mean much to most that are reading this post, but there are a few clubs in SoCal that allow both old and new KPV clutches and pipes.
In fact, coming in Sepember, the Orange County Grand Prix has six (count them - 6) KPV classes, with all senior classes allowing the old or new style clutch and pipe.
They even have four KT100 classes, including Novice, Intermetiate, Advanced and PRO.
it's great to see some organizations recognizing the pain of all the latest rules and parts updates that keep the average karter from competing.
JMHO - I wish everyone that had a 100cc kart in their garage or trailer would bring them down and show the rest of the Country what made karting so much fun in the first place. _________________ Remember......it's not always the best arrow...but more importantly the best Indian. |

We hope to put together another 100CC & Friends BBQ together at OVRP (NY) in a few weeks. We are starting to approach the best time of the year to be Karting in the NY State Countryside.
I am unfamiliar with the new clutch, I do know in 2.5 seasons, 50+ track days, lots of laps, my clutch expense (Old Clutch) was 1 disk $40ish and and one drum & Bearing ($55ish).
I don't know if the new one is better or worse, but I love the ease of service, cost and longevity. _________________ Ambrose Buldo - AKA Racer27

Ambrose,
Bring some of your buds to the OCGP. If you left tomorrow, you could be here in plenty of time for the race.
I'd even do a BBQ for all of you.

Stu,
Are you familiar with the KPV rules for this event? Is my Tri-C setup good to go there?

Martin,
I believe all senior KPV classes allow both older style clutch and pipes. You may want to verify the KPV4 class, as the F100karters is only in charge of the 3 pipe classes.
You may check with Empire Karting (Redlands) - I believe they have all the info.
Looking forward to seeing you.
