What options are there for transporting a (folding) stand when space is a challenge? I don't have space left in my Silverado with the kart loaded in the bed, so I'm looking for ways to transport the KartLift. I'm currently considering a hitch basket or possibly a hitch-mounted bicycle rack.

ETA - Should mention, I have a camper over the bed.

get one of those tool trays that rest on the seat and steering wheel. Maybe tou could let the stand sit on that.

Do your back seats flip up? I'll fold mine flat, zip tie it, and put it in the back of my Ridgeline. One word of caution - make sure you zip tie it well-I had mine open one time (zip ties slipped down the sides) and it was a PITA to try to get it out after it wedged itself in.

The bed of my Tacoma is tapered slightly from top to bottom. Kart with rear track at 55" would not fit in the bottom of the bed, but had room if you elevated it about 10". I used the slots molded into the bedliner to run 2 2x6's across the bed elevating the kart a little. This left just enough room to slide my kartlift stand under the kart, along with extra tires, tools, etc.

In retrospect, I would just spend the $70 on a hitch basket and strap it on. After a hard day of racing getting the kart on top of the 2x6's was a real pain in the ass.

I have an extended cab with seats that flip up, & the stand does fit in there, but I have to fold the front seats down & move them forward all the way, & there's still very limited clearance, making getting it in the back a WWF session. It'd be golden if it were a full extra cab, but it's not, so I need a better solution.

My system isn't that elaborate (yet)...just a couple of 2x4's across the bed, but I can get 2 karts in (I also have a shell on the bed). The stands and the parts box goes on the hitch rack. Hmmmm....I should take some pictures some time...not pretty, but it works!

I have a 2003 Silverado with a camper top as well. I put the kart in first, then place a pair 2x6's above that rest on the top of the sides. This creates a shelf in which I put the folded kart stand on.

I have a 2004 Silverado no shell but this may help. I have two motorcycle ramps that I have attached to the front of the bed so it can move up and down. I slide the kart up and secure to it, then lift kart and ramps up and secure. It allows me to slide my stand and gear underneath and allowing me to keep the gate closed.
I can take pics if you like.

Alex old friend and buddy it is well worth it. I have one and it works great. The only problem is you still have to help everyone else out that dosn't have a one man lift Evil or Very Mad But then again you do have Von Goebel to do your heavy lifting Wink

Nice idea, but the shell makes it prohibitive.

I thought I might be able to hang the KL on 1 of those bicycle hitch carriers, but I think it would need 2 mounting points to be secure enough, & bicycle carriers typically only clamp at a single (balance) point. I also think it might cover the license plate.

It looks like a hitch basket might be my only option, but I'm going to measure the height & see if I can try a variation on Tim's method.
