| Bring it on, I am not too afraid of it competing in stock form. Seems the 125 peak has somewhat been reached (pax wise too) so if it proves to be faster then I'd be for it. I don't think it will be though, it might be if it were modified but then it would cost a lot more than the 125. I'd rather have a direct injected 125 or an electric. |

Carbs @420 seems reasonable, but fuel injection @440? Do the computer controlled motors really make that much.more?! I've read through most of the 250cc solo threads, but can't remember any dyno charts. _________________ 2002 Birel CR32V/ StockMoto w/PI

The 2012 Honda 250 is a monster with the EFI, torque is flat at 20 from like 7000 to 13000 No battery and you never have to tune. Plus I hear there is never any hesitation when you go from off throttle to on. HP is around 40 with the stock pipe so there is room for improvement there too. I would love to drive one, but I wouldn't want to be the one to lift a 280 pound kart on and off the stand.
There are some dyno plots online but they're always measuring wheel hp. |

Yep 280 pound kart is a Real MF'er to lift. My ICC all leaded up is 276.
I guess 20 more to that???
250 4 stroke = not for the stick man (me)
I can't see anyone foolish enough to dump the money into such a project. _________________ Arrow AX-8/ Rotax Sr. |

I don't know about that, even I have dumped a lot of money into some pretty foolish projects.
If I were a bigger guy looking to get into karting without wanting to learn all that motor tuning stuff it may prove to be a good way to go. At that point you may as well be driving a car though. Part of the coolness of the kart class is that the drivers are for the most part the engine tuners too, you gotta know your stuff if you want to be good. |

I think the KAC spent more time on this than just about any other proposal over the last two years. It was so hard to gather good accurate performance information we could use for Solo. We're hoping someone will run one and help us gather more info so we can really see how it works. We wanted them in, we just wanted to make sure the weights were conservative. We'll see how it goes and weight can certainly change based on actual solo data. Yes believe me we fully understand the consequences of the heavier weights, I don't think we could have spent anymore time discussing it than we did given the info we had at the time.
As for foolish, that seems harsh. I have been contacted by 3 people who say they are planning to try one. Most of them will read your comments. I suspect Joe you are far more likely to complain then to consider maybe not everything out there is meant for you, but might be good for someone more open minded and weighs 230lbs naturally. |

I have given the 250 fours some thought.... but, no extra $$ in the racing budget, and I hate to abandon what I feel is a strong and reliable package... If I ever give a 250 a go my trusty SGM will be ready to rock in case anything goes boom.
btw I would definitely use EFI _________________ Jason Vehige
