Hi guys, last weekend I started my WF engine after months of storage, I put fresh oil in it, got my fuel mix in and after a few attempts it started.
But I'm having a problem, if I give it just a tinny bit of throttle it will rev up ok, but if I try to go to full throttle my engine just stops.
Should I just remove the air filter and spray some carb clearner in it?
Any advice will be appreciated
Thanks

Dan,
The advice posted on 4cycle.com http://karting.4cycle.com/showthread.php?t=388055 is good: if the carb has been sitting for months with fuel in it then take it apart and clean everything. It's not difficult, just work methodically. Put it back together in the reverse order you disassembled the carb. It's very satisfying when you've done it successfully.
Here's the carb manual: http://wem.walbro.com/distributors/servicemanuals/HIGHPERFORMANCEPZCAEBURETOR.pdf I believe I got that from a Paul Hutt thread.
I went all last season (my first) with a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach to the carb. It shows how easy it is to (not) care for a WF. It ran so well I was afraid to touch it. I did the tear-down and clean before this season started and now I'm not afraid to make jetting changes at the track. I race in the NHKA Granite State series http://nhka.net/ which is usually a one day event with 2-3 practices, a pre-final and final. Last year I was afraid of missing a session if I screwed-up the carb but (so far) now I'm confident enough to try to improve the engine in addition to the chassis. _________________ Frank

Thank you sir, really appreciate it.
Going to try it tonight see how it goes. Would you use brake cleaner or regular carb cleaner for it? I remember reading that this carb didn't like carb cleaner used in it.
Thanks again

Carb cleaner works for me.
We should start a new thread but how's your WF karting going? I remember you started last year, same as me, but in Costa Rica rather than New England. _________________ Frank

I'm doing ok, WF is almost dead here I'm sorry to say, everyone moved to ROK (wortex) or rotax. That left me just doing mostly track days with the kids in the lower classes, that takes the fun out of it very quickly, specially since they are faster than me .
So I have not driven my kart in a few months, got to stay involved in the local organization to see what is going to happen.
See if I should just quit and go back to fishing, who knows maybe both |

You guys were right, it was dirty jets. Well dirty everything, it was filthy.
Now it accelerates, but when I lift the gas pedal it remains accelerated for a few seconds then it revs down. Going to spray my gas cable with wd40 hope that's it.
Working on the kart is giving me the itch to race again.
Thanks
